Pros:
Throttle response massive improvement - instantaneous almost when pressing pedal.
Torque response - improved power and smoother response.
Power - smoother delivery and less stress sensation on motor...quieter at same speeds.
Fuel economy - substantially better than stock even with added power response.
Pretty straight forward install...did it without instructions. Only difference is the negative and postive leads. Otherwise, look at the shapes and use common sense to plug elements together.
Cons: The connectors are fairly frail and will delaminate from the base of each adapter if you make the mistake of test pluging in the stock receptacle all the way in...when you go to withdraw the BL adapter, there is a high chance that the front part of the BL plug will stay inside the stock coil receptacle. Therefore, do not test fit the BL plug adapters onto the stock receptacles UNLESS you install the heat shrink tube that goes over each stock receptacle first. After slipping on the heat shrink tubing, you may then proceed to assemble the BL adapter plug onto the stock receptacle. Then after assembling those two components, you must slide the heat shrink tubing over both the stock and BL component and procede to heat shrink the tube with a small torch flame.

Conclusions:
1. is this worth the price? YES absolutely.
2. is this better than okada coils? YES. I will be selling mine for $100 for the whole set.
3. is this better than Precision Raceworks coils? In terms of power characteristics, I do not know. I reckon they both do the same things albeit via different approaches.
4. Why didn't I use PR coils? - Because I did not want to cut or splice or compromise the stock look of my bay. And because I want the quickest way to change coils or plugs in the future.
5. Would I consider ever using PR Coils? Yes if money was not a factor, I would try both.

Cheers.

Good review and fair conclusions. I would say that depinning the connector isn't really the same as cutting or splicing, it's very reversible just more time consuming. You point out in your review the downsides of the 3D printing and that's exactly why we didn't go that route. Scares some away maybe but I sleep better at night lol. Upgrade is an upgrade just different approaches, results are largely the same, reliability time will tell.

Thanks for the wonderful review OP! I'm looking to upgrade my coils as well. What plugs do you (and others) think would do well for a std FBO car? I run a custom 93 pump map in winters, and e40/e60 in summers. I am not super power hungry, and I do like my car running well. Most of my money has gone into suspension, so I doubt I will ever really go beyond what the e40/e60 maps have to offer.

I run the recommended nkg plugs at .026 and it is smooth as butter and more fuel efficient and powerful than the stock plugs and coils.

FBO, stock turbos 93 octane only. I will never mess with the e85 shit or meth. It's not like I bought my car to drag race and even if I were e85, with upgraded turbos to the nth degree, it's pointless since there will always be another faster car somewhere.

Most definitely...noticeably better even with mods. As if it were back to stock MPG again from dealership drive off.

Ever since I gap my down to .18 my mpgs went to shit and vibration all over the car is noticeable. Hoping this kit will help.

every car is unique. you will have to list your mods to get to the bottom of it.

You mean .018" right? I'm at .016" gap on my NGK 97506 with stock ignition coils. No issues ever like the ones you posted.

I meant .018, you are right. It’s weird, idles perfect just this slight vibration. Have BL coils on the way, will see what happens. Btw congrats on the car, what’s psi you made that power?

I've tried to buy these coils like 5 times just for our own personal testing, usually, it takes 4-5 days to even get a response, every time I am promised, they will let me know when they are available. Every time, nothing. On the other hand, PR kept us up to date on development, and as soon as they said they were ready, we paid for two sets, and they came 2 days later. While these may be fine, when you cannot even get responses for days on end, I would just assume use PR for the duration at this point.

Thank you!!! It made 740whp at 31 psi peak tapering to 27 at redline. Maxing out the EFR 8374.

I had great customer service from Alex, including his noting that I was ordering for Z4 and making custom length. Everything arrived and looked great. While the PR are likely excellent, I prefer the more factory-like solution, and the dwell built into the coil.

My experience speaking with them was fine when they did respond. When you are trying to buy something, tell them multiple times, you are ready to pay whenever they are ready, and you never hear back, either A, they do not want to test them at the high power we are running, or B, its just bad business.

I had great customer service with my BL coils. I had them before MHD was updated and they got me my changes for the bin right away. I’d definitely recommend them!
