Very Nice, thats an E90 system due to the Resonator instead of the E92's stock X Pipe. how does it sound?

nice thread to come across.

I just had my exhaust done, from stock DP (Gutted), to twin 76mm, to 1 x 90mm mid section, then splitting to the stock rear box with the MPE muffler mod.

the car sounds great on start up and city driving, and WOT, however, around the 3000rpm range, there is a fair bit of rasp, and then when i change gears its sharp also, as well as letting off the throttle, so i am going to be putting in a silencer/resonator on the 90mm mid section to hopefully delete the raspyness.
Choose the resonator wisely. I have experimented quite a bit. I have 1792 and also tried some off Ebay. The Ebay look great, well made, reduces rasp, etc....BUT, I had to pull them off as the exhaust sounded too choppy at lower rpms. N54 (the louder you make it )sounds like this, but these resonators exacerbated this issue.

Nice and quiet, throaty when you get on it,but not nasty. It's not something that's going to draw attention, piss anyone off, get you in trouble, or make it annoying in the car.

Ill have to have a look, im in South Africa, and we dont get the Vibrant brand here, but similar units are available. but this is a quick view of my system from the Downpipes to where the ingle pipe is bolted, i dont seem to ahve the space on the dual pipes, so the resonator will more than likely have to go on the single 90mm section which im afraid i dont have an image of.

I have the exact same set up but with emptied mid muffler and cut out valves before the end muffler
Vibrant 1792 resonators on the same spot.
Will the location of the Resonators make a difference? or do they have to be more forward than middle?
or as long as they in the system its fine?

Good question, before my engine broke down the exhaust was straight piped with the cut out valves opened. Now I am into a Forged rebuild and the Vibrant resonators are welded into place. Will see what difference it makes. Here a link to how it sounded straight piped.

This is EXACTLY how mine sounds lol, that M4 style rasp in the mid range and on Gear shift. did the resonators remove the rasp but still left the nice deep tone while keeping a loud exhaust?

I don't know yet as the engine is at the machine shop to get re-sleeved. Hopefully will find out end of January '21

Howsit guys. I'm so sorry. I actually forgot to update here.
So I went back and fitted a resonator in the 90mm single piped section. The rasp i had around 3000rpm is now gone. And the car is a fair bit quieter. But a nice tone in the midrange now from 2500 to 4000. Doesn't drone at all.

I'll try get a cold start clip and driving.

Unless your straight tracking the car, you need the res left on....or in your case, installed. My 08 535i has a resonator on the single pipe from factory. I guess on the 335i they don't cause you have two mufflers.

I'm running catless and muff delete, boy she screams. My wife passed me the other day in it and she had it floored at 7k rpm. Sounded like a formula 1 car going by. At idle up to 2.5k rpm it's a nice gurgle.

I love it. I sit outside when she leaves so I can hear her getting on it when she leaves the subdivision. I think the only thing louder is my 05 ZX10R.
