We would also like to give a brief synopsis of our now released flashing tool, MG Flasher which is a mobile application that is applicable for Fxx/Gxx B58 vehicles. We are proud to say that we are among the first in the world to unlock the MG1 ECU with our own solution/core software. Now we are able to offer you OBD tuning capability through WiFi or K+CAN cable. We have been able to facilitate a flashing time around 1 minute 30 sec! This will enhance your flashing experience as well as provides a safer environment. We know that maintaining your warranty through software modification is a key deciding factor when considering a tune for your car. Rest assured, our software is designed to keep your CVN (Checksum Verification Number) and flash counter untouched. This means our software will be virtually invisible to dealer level diagnostic tools.

About MG Flasher:

MG flasher provides the user flashing capability of various prepared maps along with custom flashing option for BMW Fxx/Gxx series equipped with B58 engines and controlled by the DME86X ECU. MG flasher is a mobile application that has been prepared for Android users (iOS version coming soon)
The tuning process has never been easier. Simply connect the mobile device to your OBD connector with the supported Wi-Fi adapter or K+DCAN cable and tune your BMW within minutes with the provided OTS maps or use custom option for flashing custom maps. There are different tuning stages available (OTS maps), outlined below which are offered to meet your specific driving needs!

Our MG flasher also offers many unique functions included with the purchase of the Flashing license:
  • OTS maps/ All OTS pack (subject to additional cost)
  • Custom flashing – flash custom maps
  • Logger - log real time data and plot it into graphs for troubleshooting and optimizing (subject to additional cost)
  • Diagnostic - Read and clear BMW specific DTC's
  • Reset various adaptations, restore coding
  • CVN number (Checksum Verification Number) along with flashing counter stays untouched. This means our software will be virtually invisible to dealer level diagnostic tools
Various other custom options are available with each OTS map including:
  • Exhaust burbles
  • Cold start with cat heating delete (racing/off-road use only)
  • Speed limit removal
  • HP gauge and TQ gauge calibrated according to the power level
  • More in the future updates

Between creating our flashing tool, to extensively testing our performance software on our in-house dyno, we had our work cut out for us. For starters we purchased a brand new F30 340i B58 with MPPSK which we used to develop our solution for programming. Day in and day out, tirelessly for the last seven months we worked towards unlocking the SPC5777M that runs the DME861.

Our tester car had MPPSK software equipped on it to begin with. We decided to flash/downgrade our 340i with non MPPSK (stock non-performance software) and establish a baseline. From this stock (non-performance) flash we began our research and development. Analyzing and studying software documents along with a multitude of test runs and extensive data logging on both the dyno and the road enabled us to deliver you our end product. A product that does not just focus on maximum power but also reliability and ensures longevity of your vehicle and its components.

Our facility is equipped with a V-Tech dynamometer, that provides us with very accurate and realistic graphs and numbers. All our dyno runs will be displayed in horsepower/torque @ the crankshaft, the same as how BMW rates their engines. We did not apply any smoothing options to our dyno diagrams.

For a point of reference, displayed will be the power output of both Original and MPPSK software based off our measurement of them on our dyno. This can give you an idea of the exact delta gain of our software vs the various stages of what is considered stock software.

MPPSK: + 40hp + 34 ftlb (383hp/395ftlb / 535NM @ Crank)

Our offered solutions are available in the following stages and are available as OTS maps programmable through MG flasher:

STAGE 1: + 69hp + 63ftlb / 85NM Torque (412hp 423ftlb / 573NM @ Crank)
A great, entry level software flash designed for all stock components and 91 Octane or greater. This software is intended to be a step up from BMW Performance Software (MPPSK), which reduces the torque spikes, increases power and smooths out the overall powerband. You will notice an increase in responsiveness as well as drivability.

Designed to work with 93/94 Octane for best results.

Transmission Limiter Information:
The 340i is equipped with an 8HP50 transmission where the factory torque limiter is set to 550NM which is roughly 400ftlb tq @ the crank. For the best results and proper smoothing of the torque curve without any transmission related torque intervention we have found that is best to increase the limiter within the transmission software. We can present you with two options to implement this on your vehicle:

Option 1: Lifting the limiter in the transmission ECU which can be done for example with xHP Flashtool - based on information from their Facebook Page the flashing possibility arriving soon.
Option 2: Bringing the car to our shop for reprogramming of the transmission ECU or other tuner equipeed with tuning tools to capable to read 8HP software.


STAGE 3: +XX HP + XX Torque (Actual Dyno Numbers @ Crank) – in development
This software will be intended for those of you who will modify their exhaust by fitting either a catless downpipe or a downpipe fitted with a high flow catalytic converter. We will be fitting our tester vehicle with both options, analyze the pros and cons of either and will soon have a solution released after extensive testing on both the dyno and road.

Big applause and shout out to MG Flasher for making my F30 2018 340xi 6speed feel exactly how I imagined it could feel... but way way better.

Long story short, ever since I got the car in early 2018 I always felt it honestly sucked in terms of spirited driving experience. High rpm wot shifts were laggy, felt the car was hesitating, it felt timid when asked to perform, it did not like to play, I was far from impressed, it dit however do rather well as a highway cruiser, comfy and relaxed.

I threw a JB+ and an Intake on it and yes it improved power a bit but the whole experience still left me looking for other cars.

For some time I have been following on forums for flash tune development and we all know the groups who stand out. I contacted all the groups with various questions and determined that for what I need, a Stage 2 from MG Flasher is exactly what I was looking for.

I honestly could not believe the difference not only in power but also driving experience.
The car is a completely different beast, now it accelerates, it pulls all the way to redline in every gear, when you shift at high rpm it pulls again hard and consistently, it’s unreal. It feels like a twin turbo the way it pulls to redline and does not run out!
The car feels factory in terms of power delivery, consistent and smooth, but beasty, and now I simply love the car.

If you are not impressed by your B58 and deep down you know it can do more, well it can... much much more.

Stop waiting and put a Stage 2 MG Flasher tune on it. The only regret you will have is not having it done sooner.

We are excited to announce support for Apple devices has now been added to MG Flasher! Now you can choose between an Android or iOS device to flash your B48/B58 equipped BMW. If you already use our software on Android, you’ll now have access to your purchased licenses on the iOS platform as well, and vice versa!

MG Flasher is a mobile application developed to provide OBD tuning capability of F & G series BMWs equipped with the B48 or B58 engine. The tuning process is simple; download the App, connect an ENET Wi-Fi adapter or ENET cable and flash any of our offered OTS maps to meet your specific vehicle’s needs. Flashing time is 15 - 20 seconds, and the entire unlocking process takes 4 - 6 minutes when using ENET! You can find detailed instructions in our user manual and connection guide on our website or inside the application itself.

All the tuning features available on Android are now available on iOS. Depending on your vehicle, this includes on-the-fly switchable mapping, burbles on-the-fly, cold start delete, speed limiter removal and custom map flashing for custom tuners using our platform. All these features are included with your purchase of a flashing license!

On-the-fly switchable mapping is currently only supported on F-Series vehicles. Support for G-series is planned for our next release. Furthermore, the next update will provide F & G series with additional unique features from our custom code.

Initial response from iOS users suggest that iPhone 11 Pro devices only support using official ethernet lightning adapters. If you don't already own the official adapter, we highly recommend purchasing an ENET Wi-Fi adapter that costs less and connects wirelessly.

MG Flasher has an updated logger available for your BMW. You can now independently select from metric to imperial units for a given measurement type. We have added PSI, AFR, lb-ft, °F and a few others to the unit options. The date in log filename has been standardized to “Apr-04-2020_04:20:20PM” format, it will also include stage and map information.

More ECUs have become supported in the logger. We added more RAM variables to log including: Engine Oil Temperature, Vehicle Speed, Fuel Tank Level, Target Engine Temperature, Intercooler Pump Speed. If this wasn’t enough, you can now import custom RAM variables in *.CSV format (targeted towards custom tuners and enthusiasts) and live gauges have adjusted font size for better legibility.

For those with four-cylinder engines (B46/B48), we have removed unnecessary logging of cylinders 5 and 6 for improved sample rates (six-cylinder engines (B58) are unaffected).

We can’t wait to release our next update featuring new custom code version 3 (CCv3). Look out for another post with more details soon!

Custom Code v3 delivers optimal performance with Max Cooling for your BMW!

Introducing MG Flasher’s latest feature: Max Cooling On-The-Fly. With a simple button combination sequence, you can enable the Max Cooling option without re-flashing the car!

There will now be two option available for cooling your engine: Regular cooling and Max Cooling. Use “regular cooling” with regular driving, then switch to “Max Cooling” with a quick and easy button sequence. Max Cooling is achieved by lowering the target engine temperature and increasing the target intercooler coolant volume flow.

The update will require to reflash your ECU using newest MG Flasher ver. 207. You will be presented with popup information when flashing (custom code update to v3.3). Before flashing, there will be a few options to select. “Cooling” will enable you to choose the “Regular Target Engine Temperature” as preferable for everyday driving - that is set when Max Cooling On-The-Fly is not enabled. This will then allow you to enable adjustable “Max Cooling On-The-Fly” which will present two sliders: “Max Cooling Target Engine Temperature” and “Max Cooling Target Intercooler Coolant Volume Flow” both settings used when Max Cooling On-The-Fly is on.

Target engine temperature and intercooler coolant volume flow will change between your slider settings (configured before flashing) and the default values when toggling Max Cooling On-The-Fly. OEM target engine temperature is 110°C and the OEM intercooler coolant volume flow is 1500 L/h under full load operation. You can adjust the values from 90°C - 110°C and from 1500 L/h – 1800 L/h.
  • To enable Max Cooling On-The-Fly – Switch to Sport Mode + via the Driver Experience Switch and push the Dome Light button twice within 2.5 seconds - check engine light will blink twice as a confirmation.
  • To disable Max Cooling On-The-Fly – Switch to Sport Mode + via the Driver Experience Switch and push the Dome Light button twice within 2.5 seconds - check engine light will blink once as a confirmation.
Please note: Max Cooling is currently only available on F-series and supported B48, B58 engines. Support for G-series is just around the corner! Switchable ethanol maps will be temporarily unavailable until next update which will allow you to switch between multiple maps On-The-Fly!

We also added an indicator when switching Burble Levels. The engine light will blink twice to provide confirmation that you’ve successfully adjusted your burble settings On-The-Fly. See the User Manual for more details. Just another example of how MG Flasher improves user experience.

We are proud to present the world’s first performance map switch on BMW G series without the need to reflash the ECU. The goal of this function is to give you, the user, the ability to switch dynamically to another map-set while the engine is running. This can be only be achieved under the following conditions:
1: Switchable maps must be enabled in your software.
2: Engine must be running.
3: Vehicle must be at a standstill.

Switchable Map Procedure (conditions mentioned above are assumed in the following steps):

Step 1: Press the Brake Pedal 5 times consecutively within 5 seconds and then hold the Brake Pedal on the 5th press. You should notice the Check Engine Light begin to blink; this is a confirmation marker that tells you if you have performed this first step correctly. If you do not encounter a blinking Check Engine Light, then you must check the condition listed above and retry Step 1.

Step 2: While the Check Engine Light is blinking, fully press and hold the Gas Pedal to W.O.T (wide open throttle) position. The actual engine RPM will not rise during this procedure, so there will be no chance of over-revving the engine. The RPM gauge will immediately point to the currently saved map-set (ie. 2000 RPM = Map #2). If no map-set was previously selected, then you will see RPM go directly to a value of 0 indicating the default map-set. Steps 1 & 2 allow the user to see the currently selected map-set.

Step 3: To select a new map-set, fully press and hold the Gas Pedal to W.O.T (while still pressing the Brake Pedal from Steps 1 & 2) for a period of 5 seconds or longer. The map-set will coincide with the current state of the Driver Experience Switch and MSA Button.
• ECO – MAP-SET 1 (1000 RPM)
• COMFORT – MAP-SET 2 (2000 RPM)
• SPORT – MAP-SET 3 (3000 RPM)
• SPORT+ – MAP-SET 4 (4000 RPM)
• SPORT+ and 2 quick MSA presses – MAP-SET 0 (DEFAULT) (0 RPM)
After 5 seconds of holding the Gas Pedal at W.O.T position (while still holding the Brake Pedal) you will notice the RPM on the dash will reflect the choice you have selected (ie. 3000 RPM = Map #3).

Step 4: Release the Brake and Gas Pedals fully to exit the selection process. RPM on the dash will return to actual engine RPM and the Check Engine Light will stop blinking. Now you can enjoy your newly selected map-set!

The online shop provides tools for managing your orders and allows us to process payments directly (PayPal, credit card or Visa debit card). In the past many struggled with purchase problems due to service provider’s restrictive policy for high-value in-app purchases. Our solution was to create a reliable service which users can quickly and securely buy MG Flasher products.

Authorized dealers are now able to manage resale directly from our shop and assign licenses to VIN remotely. Please contact us if you would like to become an authorized dealer.

Licenses are related to VIN not Google/Apple account. If you choose to sell a car with MG Flasher, the new buyer will have access to all purchases linked with that VIN. In case you choose to take your MG Flasher software with you to another car, we can do a license transfer too. The process will involve deactivating the original car using our app before activating the new car and providing us with both VINs for verification. Redeeming purchased licenses
1. Run latest MG Flasher app on your mobile device
2. Sign in using shop credentials using active internet connection
3. Connect to your car using Connect button
4. When you see basic data of your car please enable your internet access again
5. Click Open Car button
6. Select the Flashing license or OTS map you bought in the shop from the list and click Redeem button to redeem Logger, simply select Logger
7. Confirm your selection before proceeding
8. Your license will then be locked to your vehicle and it will be ready to flash!

Following up on our previous update for F series, MG Flasher now presents G series Max Cooling On-The-Fly and adjustable Burbles On-The-Fly! With a simple button combination sequence, you can enable these options without re-flashing the car!

A few other items were added or changed to improve user experience including:
- Free access for ALL users to reading ECU info or DTCs, clearing DTCs, reset ECU and to reset adaptation
- Logger no longer disables Bluetooth, could be used in conjunction with Dragy!
- In App user account registration
- Automatic feedback/support request added in App. Useful when connected car is not supported user can send more detailed information about their cars along with contact information to our support team

Tuning your BMW should not have to be difficult; we focus on MG Flasher user experience at every opportunity. To help those with slower internet connections, we reduced the size of our OTS maps files by over 98%; downloading a map update is very fast now. We have also improved the synchronization of user/car info by removing the extra loading on each MY CAR page entry. Speed of purchase redemption is much faster too with the added benefit of a separate page called SYNC CAR where you can sync your licenses and OTS maps from all your devices (Android, iOS). Dealers will find the online shop now shows licenses linked to customer vehicles. Finally, the way we show available maps for each stage has been placed on the new AVAILABLE STAGE VERSIONS page. Current version and release date are indicated on screen when you are choosing between 91oct/95ron and 93oct/98ron maps. Furthermore, you can expand specific items to read what was changed in each release. Together with a few other technical improvements the overall speed has increased across the entire app.

As you may recall from our last post, we announced the development of the TCU 8HP torque limiter removal on the G20 M340i and Supra and today it is being delivered for new generation B58/B48 Beta Users! Furthermore, there is no need to reflash the transmission control module! We provide a user interface that allows adjustability of the maximum torque value (up to 1000 Nm) giving the user full control over total engine output on both B48 and B58 vehicles. As an added bonus, if you choose to let your significant other or relative get their hands behind the wheel this will serve as a valet option where you can lower the total output to a value lesser than stock (minimum 250 Nm). After you update to the latest Custom Code v0.1 on your ECU (~4-minute flash), this change is then added to the calibration area of the ECU. Thereafter, it will be a quick flash of under 30-seconds (when using ENET)!

The internal torque limitation of the factory transmission software in the G20 M340i, Supra and other G series models is 550 Nm, anything past this torque value (which is normally seen on Stage 1 and up) will immediately trigger a TCU limiter that will activate a torque reduction module within your ECU to prevent you from making more power. There is no solution on the market to program the new generation 8HP51 transmission yet, so we decided to create own solution and provide our users with optimal engine tuning software. With only our engine ECU modification, we have been able to completely remove this limitation and can now offer software calibration on MG Flasher without the need for any transmission tuning (regarding main torque limitation). With this implementation there is no need to skew the torque/load calculation model maps within the ECU to keep the limiter from triggering therefore giving us an unaltered torque value that is true within the ECU and TCU. This allows for accurate calculations, smooth shifting and no software trickery. Obviously, there will always be benefits to tuning the transmission software however this solution can now provide people with newest 8HP the option for optimal engine tuning without the need to re-calibrate the transmission software.

MG Flasher is proud to announce official support for the Gen 2 B48 and B58 platform. These vehicles use the newest MG1 Bosch ECUs (DME84T0 & DME86T0) with MCU TC29x (AURIX). After many of flashes on our development car G20 M340i and over a hundred beta users, we are finally opening the doors to the latest MG Flasher software.

A Flashing License provides access to our unique adjustable TCU torque limiter available only on these ECUs for B48 and B58 models. With our Custom Code implementation there is no need to skew the torque/load calculation model maps within the ECU to keep the limiter from triggering therefore giving us an unaltered torque value that is true within the ECU and TCU. This allows for accurate calculations, smooth shifting and no software trickery. On-The-Fly options for Aurix ECUs are under development. Stage 1 and 2 OTS maps will include options like removal of OPF, cold start, catalytic converter and speed limiter; adjustability for burbles and target engine cooling temperature is also available.

Please note, ECUs with software updates from 11/2019 and later may have OBD flashing security that require removal of the ECU to unlock via select Authorized Dealers or Tuners with specialized bench tools. Interested Dealers should contact us for exclusive access to a customized version of Magic Motorsport’s FLEX tool. We have also enabled 3rd party unlock support on these ECUs to help transition to MG Flasher. Furthermore, updates from 7/2020 may fully lock the ECU; there are no tools available on the market to unlock ECUs with this new update. Best way to check your ECUs security level is to connect via our free app.

If your vehicle is not listed here, please connect our free app and press “Check Support” to check if OTS maps are readily available for your specific ECU revision. We may be able to prepare them for you if not yet available.

We have prepared OTS maps for both B48 and B58 vehicles with excellent results. Our goal was to increase the performance and focus on creating safe and reliable calibrations that retain factory functions and safety features. From our many tests, our B58 OTS maps have modest gains; up to an additional 109 hp & 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) on stage 2 from stock! On 184 hp model B48 vehicles our stage 2 maps increase stock output by up to a whopping 156 hp & 201 Nm (148 lb-ft)! All attached dynos are measured in bhp except for the DynoJet B48 which is measured in whp.

The new MG Cloud Log Viewer is available online and it is integrated with our professional logger built into the MG Flasher App. Tuner’s may customize which RAM addresses to log in order to get direct access to the ECU’s internal calculations. Users may upload logs directly to their cloud account after linking their API key with a new MG Cloud user account. We’re working on joining accounts together for ease of use. Now that we have official support for these vehicles, our next steps are to create custom code including switchable maps, burbles, max cooling, and antilag. The goal is to enable in app adjustable custom code ON THE FLY, where flashing will NOT be required to change settings!

MG Flasher’s latest App, version 266, contains an important Custom Code patch (v5.4), for F-Series B46, B48 and B58 vehicles. This update will correct low torque and significantly improve performance for vehicles with Custom Code v5.x software. Please update the app from your respective app distributor, Play Store or App Store. Once you have app v266 installed, reflash your current map (OTS stage 1, 2 or Custom Map). You will be asked to confirm flashing to Custom Code version 5.4. Once complete, you should immediately see significant improvement in performance, most noticeably on the B48 platform.

MG Flasher Cloud Log Viewer

Many MG Flasher users and 3rd party tuners have requested more logging parameters; we are here to deliver! In a recent update we added advanced monitoring of boost, relative filling and injection channels. For cars that support these parameters, users may now find PID controller variables (for fine tuning boost), relative filling limiters (including an index value to help locate the source of the limiter quickly), HPFP quantity valve delivery time and much more in our premium logger! We will be updating the User Manual to include an appendix with a full list of logging parameters soon. Authorized tuners can also specify which RAM address they would like to directly log. Interested users may request access for direct RAM logging as well. Please let us know what other logging parameters you would like to see in MG Flasher!

Once users have logged their car, they may use MG Flasher’s free new MG Cloud service to upload and view logs. Our cloud log viewer enables you to quickly toggle the display of different parameters, rescale the y-axis for individual parameters, zoom on points of interest and much more! Create a free account at logs.mgflasher.com to grab your API key, copy it into the MG Flasher app under “External Services”, and get started by uploading multiple logs directly from the app! Logs on our server are sorted by VIN for your convenience and secured for privacy measures. You can also share your logs with our staff for fast support.

In an upcoming update, burble aggression and duration maps will be reworked. The lower aggression settings will now be more tame and selectable duration range has been rescaled for a 0.1 second resolution between 0.0 and 4.0 seconds.

Technical Support over the holidays will be limited between December 24th, 2020 and January 3rd, 2021. We will be back at full weekday support on January 4th, 2021 with our regular hours: 9am – 4pm EST Monday to Friday. Stay safe!

F-Series B58 Stage 2.5 OTS Map Update v2.15

It has never been a better time to be a part of the MG Flasher family! Today we are announcing a new update to our Stage 2.5 OTS maps for F-Series B58 vehicles! The map has been revised entirely by improving many parameters including ignition timing, turbine efficiency, AFR, EGT control and post shift boost PID’s control to provide you safer and better performance!

Where previously Stage 2.5 was accessed only through Stage 2 switchable maps (on slot #2), you can now flash it as an independent map that is bundled with ethanol calibrations in the additional switchable map slots! The license for Stage 2.5 is still included with your Stage 2 license; you get two for the price of one. You can now select between ACN 91, 95RON, 98RON and 100RON maps as well as E30 and E40 blends. Please note, to maintain sufficient fueling requirements of the high-performance map, it is mandatory to use Stage 2.5 with an upgraded HPFP and high flow downpipe/catalytic converter. More importantly so you can serve up a nice view of your taillights to the competition! A huge thanks to all the beta users for repeatedly testing the new maps, look at their Dragy times attached here!

A few new options are added to the latest release of the MG Flasher app: Startup Roar and Torque by Gear Limiter. If your engine is warm, the engine speed will briefly increase during startup to make a “roar” sound if you choose to enable Startup Roar. You can select the aggression and duration of said roar with the new handy sliders. If you find your vehicle is having a hard time gaining traction on launch, you can also enable a torque limiter in any gear you choose. This torque limiter is extremely helpful for FWD Mini Cooper B48, which we have under beta testing, or manual transmission on RWD vehicles.

Many of you have asked about increasing the aggressiveness of burbles, with the latest app update, the aggression scaling has been increased via burble aggression styles. These styles will change the onset of aggression, how quickly the timing will retard. Try them out and see which style you like the most, not every software will have access to all styles. Together with a few other burble settings, you can find these styles in the list of customizations for burble options. Furthermore, if you want even more pops and bangs, you can add extra aggressive timing and control the fueling (via lambda) of the burble event to fine tune your flame map. The default settings are a great place to start, but we advise caution when using this new feature. This will retard timing a significant amount. Infrequent use of flame maps is recommended, please obey all local laws.
