Very nice. I may be interested in a DCT swap or trading for a 335is if all those goodies could get unlocked, specifically the adjustable launch controls.

I was speaking with ncat10 about this and this is what he told me:
Yes we did ) you can use m3 tcu flash as long as you install joystick from m3. It works but if you install it you will lose launch control function.
The problem is that m-drive button is integrated with DME and there is no way to make it working with msd81.
So launch control won’t work. All other stuff works as expected.

So it seems the M3 shifter is the key

From a 1m review by evo magazine
“There’s an MDM button, which partially or fully deactivates the stability and traction control systems, while an M button alters the throttle response. Unlike bigger M cars, this button isn’t programmable; the upside is a lack of technological confusion when you simply want to get on with the business of going fast.”

I think the key may well be the 335is DME which is the same engine spec but with a DCT. Well know more when @dyezak tries to do it. Interestingly there’s a guy in Australia that is retrofitting m dynamic DSC’s in non M cars. I’ll report back when I know more but he reckons he can do it. I’ve spoken to him before and he’s legit knowledgeable so it might be happening.

I just did a partial mechanical dissasembly this weekend and checked everything out. I will have to repin my connectors but the wiring harness appears to be fine. I'll also need to figure out what to do with the parking lock pins....this is the big difference between the 335is and M3 GWS shifters. The 335is has a "park" switch that engages the park selector. The M3 GWS doesn't have this and the TCU simply engages park when the engine is turned off. I'm assuming I'll just need to leave these pins unused after the swap. Other than that there was one other small blue 2 pin connector that I'm researching as it exists on the 335is GWS but not the M3 GWS. Not sure what that is either.

The sport button and drivelogic button appear to be a simple swap, and the Power/EDC/DSC buttons are superfluous to everything other than launch control. So that will be phase 2 for me. I did order a cheap CAN sniffer to sniff the PT-CAN BUS to see what exactly is the PT-CAN messages that trigger launch control for both the 335is and the M3. @Terry@BMS didn't dismiss me when I asked if the JB4 could emulate these CAN signals to force launch control. I think he may be willing to test if we can provide the address and payload of the requisite PT-CAN messages. That would likely be the fastest and cheapest solution to adjustable launch control. Nothing against @jyamona or MHD, I'm sure they can do this too, but their plates are REALLY full right now. And the obvious final solution is Syvecs for a cool $5k.

Just to recap, it looks like we can have full M3 drive logic with a fairly simple swap of GWS, DriveLogic button, and Gauge Cluster then flashing the M3 TCU ZB files over. The Launch Control won't work however at all in this setup. We would need to emulate the PT-CAN signals to turn it on (this is how Syvecs does it, they did disclose that).

Oh, and I doubled down on this conversion. I am assuming the ZB file from the M3 will also contain the M3 final drive ratio for the DCT (3.15). That should mean that we can run a 3.15 or higher (up to our stock 2.56) rear ratio with no issues.

So I bought an M3 DCT Rear Diff setup in preparation for this going well.

I didn't think about the diff ratio part. Well done mate. If we start altering Can messages then the diff ratio thing should be able to be resolved by reporting a different RPM count from the rear wheel sensors only to the TCU

As for Terry and the JB4 i would've thought that they'd already have this info as part of their product development already and i was hoping they could help us ? @Terry@BMS

BMS doesn’t do anything with the S65, so they wouldn’t have the CAN info for their power button.

But he’d have it for the 1/335is ?

You need the CAN signal from the MSS60 DME which runs the S65. No way to get this from an N54 car of any type.

It’s my theory that this is why Syvecs tackles the M3 before the N54. They needed to carry over some of the M3 stuff to the N54 platform to fully unlock the DCT.

I dont think that youre far off the mark re syvecs dev.
I know Terry doesn’t have the s65 details but If you can find that thread where Shiv was looking at the M3 CAN messages for LC we can couple it with Terry’s knowledge of our cars and maybe then he can weave his magic?

Oh, do you have those ZB numbers handy? We should put them in this thread for posterity sake (and so I don't have to continuously keep looking them up hahaha).

Yeah, edit them directly into the document by clicking "Add Section" and make a chapter section dedicated to miscellaneous info like that.

I'll be using 7845773 when I do the GWS conversion. BTW, I don't know if anyone else saw the comment on facebook, but someone swears their tuner flashed 7847753 to their DCT in their 335is with no other changes and it worked. I might try that first just to see what happens, then do the hardware switchover.

But gots to get a new laptop first though since mine just let all its magic smoke escape last night.

I've added this to the documents text, @dyezak should also be able to make edits as new information rolls in.

I didn’t see the comment no. I cant see how - there was a guy that originally tried it and said that it didn’t work because of the shifter. ncat10 from Russia also said you need the shifter. But the IS is unique to the US market so there could be something in the IS that enables it(DME tables ?) its a long shot. It could be true....

I dont like Facebook because it doesn’t thread things like a forum which makes it hard to search, bookmark etc. Do you have a link ?

Thanks for adding it to the doc @doublespaces
