I like the cut cowl, looks well done. The M3 cowl looks like shit IMO, might have to get the Dremel out on mine

Never seen an engine cover cut like that. Interesting. Like seeing things done differently.

The cut cowl requires the wires be tucked back, instead of having a harnes organizer like the M3. The cabin filters are also exposed to the water when you wash the car, I'm sure that contributes to a smelly AC.

M3 vowel is the only way to do it "properly" imo. Keeps the smell out and keeps the engine bay sealed for airflow and water purposes.

Lol at the "sad" rating. Sorry, but replacing the two stock plastic corner "caps" with giant Idaho shaped caps looks like garbage. Because it came with the M3 doesn't make it awesome.

The stock caps with the rubber liner tabs keep everything dry. The cowls main purpose, I believe, is preventing a pressure wall from building in the front of the engine bay by sealing the engine bay / windshield transition. It does so poorly. In the photo it looks like he has re installed the rubber to keep that area sealed. You're correct on the smell issue. There's no way to fit the oem filters in place with that set up but it looks like he has the plug in filters installed. They likely won't do as a good of a job because they're going to be drawing air from outside of the cover tho.

I wouldn't entertain either the M3 or cutting it. This might make the OCD guys go crazy but my set up is held on by two screws. Takes under a minute to get to anything.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I prefer the M3 for access myself. I don't have to remove anything to get to anything. To each their own though.

@Lifestyler what are the specs on your wheels? The rears look to be a bit more concaved than normal ARC-8 fitment.

That is @roywillems he is a prolific lurker and dream killer with all those accidental 'dumb' ratings from scrolling down the page.

A lot of work has went into this car it’s impressive. But I would be concerned over the wrapping of the manifold reason being it reduces the under bonnet temps which is great thing but it’s at the expense of retaining more heat inside the manifold pipes which keeps the heat inside the cylinder head which leads to det. Plus wrapping manifolds can lead them to crack.
Other thing put a filter over your turbo don’t want dirt getting sucked in there or you’ll end up with valve seat recession it’s not worth it.
Other than that it looks a beast!

Very nice build. I wish i have half as good as your welding skill.....
Very interested in your muffler build. Did you open it up and change up the piping inside also? The piping you replaced looks a lot bigger then stock. What size you used? I guess 3" into the muffler?
