From e90 post was some info that I thought was interesting in how it relates to thouse of us looking at various wiring diagrams and wondering why things don’t tally
From this thread
this ...

jbbf81 K-line (cars older than march 2007) also knows as JBE
jbbf70 D-can (cars newer than march 2007) also knows as JBE2
jbbfr3 D-can (cars newer than march 2007) also knows as JBE3

Versions of JBE:
There are a few versions available
L1 (low range type, low range version)
L2 (low range type, medium range version)

H1 (high range type, low range version)
H2 (high range type, medium range version)
H3 (high range type, high range version -> used in E91 and E93)
H4 (high range type, very high range version)

M (Master Version, Supports ALL)

I think anyone that's swapped over a D Can JBE onto a K line car may have some issues down the road.

I have a JBBF3 M swap on my MSD80, and what I've found is that my digital steering wheel no longer reads engine data and even the state's emissions computer couldn't connect to my dme to pull the readiness monitors...

Somehow, BMW specific diagnostic tools (ISTA, INPA, MHD) can still easily talk to the dme, but everything else is outta luck

I am now looking for a JBBF3 KL or finally retrofit my MSD81 I've been sitting on
