Was just looking at this. Sounds like it's a long way from being reality. But I like the sound of it.

I saw someone asked him that question. He said billet n54 was like $30k. I'm monitoring to see if anything becomes of it. But I'm not looking for a 1200hp n54. I'm happy at 1/2 that.
The guy who is doing this is also my tuner so I'm sure I'll get updates

What sleeves are being used in this cast iron block? And what size are the threads for the headstuds ? Even if this block goes into production your still gonna be trying to push a ton of boost through a quite restrictive head.

Well I'm not doing it myself I just found it interesting. I barely can handle building my block lol. I do believe the bore size will be 86 or 86.5 I read. And there is plans to have a head come pre ported it says too, but I think that's even further down the road. Not sure of sleeve material or stud size.
This is same guy who has the inserts to fix ovaled out injector holes. I'm sure he will sell alot of those

Yeah I think there's a really good opportunity here starting with a fresh casting to utilize a darton or la sleeve and full 11mm headstuds. Also curious to know if he's gonna be using a custom spec piston with increasing bore that much. Would eliminate quite a few of the weaknesses with the oem block

He is selling the cheapest forged rods and pistons found on alibaba to the crowd. He is tuning based on RFP maps. You think he has a clue for this project?

Yeah, you make a good point for me to fund this I would need to see lots more engineering R&D.

The part that gets me is the "If we can’t raise enough funding in one year we will vote to continue An additional year or refund everyone." I am afraid this might be a cash grab without any real fundamental analysis. I think bigger bore would be great but the n54 does not seem to suffer from any common aluminum block problems like cylinder ovaling out or cracked sleeves so the market would be limited to maybe one percent of n54 owners trying to push records.

This is not to mention if you bore it out that much what will you do with the head? Small head ports but bigger cylinders kinda defeats the purpose I’m not saying this could not be a good idea but there is not enough evidence for me to think it was thought through all the way.

I would be more positive into that project if shittingsworth actually would show some knowledge. But he fails at every point possible.
No doubt he has some ideas.

But offering pistons and rods without any information about material or other really important properties... He posted a video of "his" rods vs. others and he really pointed out the surface finish to be a major property. No analysis about strength or dimensions and tolerances. Just "mine look better than the others". He is so fucking retarded that he even recommends the same gap for both piston rings on his "special" bullshit non coated cheap ass pistons anybody could buy knowing alibaba.com. And the recommended gaps are full stupid.

I get that this catches facebook dumbheads. The idea sounds nice. Make the N54 Block just 2JZ. But then you have to use my cheap ass pistons and rods... I can even imagine that he can make a successful business with targeting morons. But this project? He knows nothing about how to realize this as a working end-item. Probably will go with a N53 Head etc.. but Setup? RFP is not prepared for that...

Lol!! Actually I threw a wrench in his plans, when I changed from jb4 to Reflex and Flex fuel, so I have a motiv tune in my car now. Seems I love to send tuners money and not use them . Got a bef from pure evil I used for a couple days too.

So wierd how some tuners love jb4 and how some try to stay away from it. I think there needs to be alot more details before people start forking over 1500 for something that there's not even a design of. Like what will the bore spacing be like with the increased bore ? So many questions so very few answers and have no intentions of joining any Facebook tuner groups lol

Yeah I suppose with bad fueling and tuning anything can happen... I just meant n54 most of the time is very stout and there are plenty of builds now making 700+ whp with just rods and pistons using the stock block, so I was questioning the need for most people to need a stronger block.

Probably the biggest advantage to a stronger block would being able to physically keep the head on the block. You can put standard size headstuds into a n54 and still pull the threads out of the block thats why so many people do the ns300l inserts and full 11mm conversion thats the smartest thing to do right out of the gate. If you look at oem sleeve failures they crack right where the combustion happens so the more cylinder pressure you have with keeping the head in the block the higher the chances become of the oem sleeve cracking.
