Hi guys,

My N54 is running with MHD stage 2+ (18 PSI boost), but I'm having misfires issues when I'am in a full thottle 4 gear and 3k RPM on engine. I'm using spark plug NGK 97506 2 step colder gaped .018" and Eldor coils.

My question is, can I select MHD coil option for different option of stock using Eldor coils ?

Thanks for you help.

Try running S55 Bosch plugs. Some people swear on them and are possibly better than 97506's.

Though personally, I'm running 97506's (.018") myself at 23+ psi boost on upgraded twins on Eldor coils. Only some timing corrections due to pump gas

Thank you for your repply.

I did the MHD option coils for NSX B58 2 weeks ago, I don't know how much dwell time MHD tunning added on this option.

I notice my engine running more smotthly and misfires has gonne.

Now I'm going to check how long my Eldor coils will survive to that option.

B58 vs other coil dwell time and other values like temp etc were recorded somewhere in a thread about the b58 kit. The eldors get hot enough with stock dwell. Not sure they are going to generate much more energy with more dwell.
I'd imagine is shorter lifespan coils and zero extra power. If you have no ignition related issues why even do it?

I have said this before.
I just don't understand the whole upgrade ign coil trend goin on.
Plugs, yes...coils, no need IMO.
Most people experience misfires (with good plugs and coils) which are tune related or fuel related but blame coils and do the "upgrade" to find themselves with even more problems.
Like the PR boots issue, tracking, etc

Hi, Today is may 13, my car is running normaly (I use it every day to go work). No problem so far with the coils but misfires appear when I pull full throtle!!!
I'm thinking to buy PR coil or B58 coil.
I havent decide yet.
What do you think is the best choice?

Glad I'm not the only one. In the last 3 months I've replaced hpfp, injectors, coils and plugs and still have random misfires. This car is starting to annoy me... only took 8 years but it's happening.

I always say to my friend here in Brazil "Who have this car loves throubles" but at the same time is very good ride on it. Maybe this misfires could be the ECU MSD80 "tired" I was thinking about that!!! Who knows!!!

Neither. You have a different issue IMO.
maybe you purchased counterfeit plugs from ebay or Amazon ???

Highly doubt it's the MSD80, you will definitely know when it kicks the bucket. I did the msd81 a few years back. You should do it soon because it's only a matter of time.

I dont know how to do it, here in Brazil no one knows the right procedure to do that. I've been reading about that and I notice that you have to something specific to MSD81 run in the car!

My dream is instal a single turbo kit from CES motorsports (botom turbo position with Garret turbo) the sound of turbine in idle is awersome!!
