Hi I don't own a bmw, nor do I have plans to own one soon. What I am interested in is the zf8 series of transmissions. I'm interested in developing an inexpensive way to operate one in a standalone setting. I have no intention of creating an automatic mode, only a mode where you press a button/paddle/lever and it moves to the next gear. Press a different button and the gear goes the opposite way. I plan on using an ace velocio PLC with enough inputs and outputs to control the solenoids and tc lockup. I may also see about using one with an analog input/output to vary the harshness of shifts in everyday driving.
