looking into getting a set of Hydra turbos, leaning towards the 650's. Not looking into doing any of his headwork. just looking for real world experience since there are only a handful of posts of people who actually have them. also not too many dynos. thought it might be good to have results all in one thread with results/experience/longevity. please post your setup and results. thanks

I have the HP800 with a N53 head and the car is a different beast. Waiting for a dragy to test my 60-130 times.

I set a 1M buddy of mine up with 650s and he's had awesome results and is in love with his car again. Full track car.

Now just the decision of the 650's or the 800's
I have the 650s, though not on the car yet (still sorting through ported N54 head stuff). I suppose the question would be - what's your application? I wanted a reliable 600whp with ethanol, street car manners as best as possible with that kind of juice.

In hindsight and FWIW ... at least today, if I redid it, I would give a hard thought to getting the package with N53 head. It drives the cost up for sure, but if one can afford it, I think it is worth serious consideration.

I Love my hp800
Made 613hp and 800nm at 21-20psi on a German dyno with only 102oct No Meth etc..more to come, right now i'm dialing in the n20tmap Sensor with Omar/Hydra to hit more boost up top. Low Torque because Stock engine, dont want to bend a rod or "send IT" to hell..

I've got my HP650s on now and pretty well dialed in doing my own tuning. This thing rips now, I think they spool up faster than stock but my stock turbos were pretty much spent

I'm on VTT Single Barrel with VCV tables, let me point out that the tables made a HUGE difference.

This sounds pretty interesting. Would you mind giving us more information? May be a log ore more information about behavior of those sweet pieces?
I can only see from @JBacon335 that his 650s seem to spool really fast.

Would be really great to get more information about those Hydras. Up until now they seem more like some insider turbos with little to no information spread except the few videos from @Hydra Performance himself.

It seems that more and more ppl are asking for information..

how do you like the 650's? think its enough? i really am leaning towards the 650's, the only thing holding me back is i've had the car for 6 years and might get rid of it in a year or 2 and i think the 800's would have a better resale value. i dont plan to build the motor or do any head work. the car used to see the track a lot but since having a set of twins August 2018 i have not been back. car is fbo with tbi with smfw, lsd, m3 front suspension, spl rear arms, upgraded sways, and custom coilovers. just did the water pump, thermo, and oil pan gasket, plugs, coils, walnut blast, setrab oil cooler, belts and pulleys at 94k miles. car is sitting since march 2019 at a friends shop waiting for turbos.

It's really all what you're looking for, this is my daily driver so I wanted the quick spooling and don't run E85 since it's not really available here so the 650s were a better fit. If I had e85 available or a ported head and cams or N53 head I'd do the 800s

you think the 650's will do 600whp reliably with ethanol? if i could get that i would probably be happy. i have e85 all over by me. been running full e85 for 3 or 4 years.

@Hydra Performance probably has a more definitive observation than I do. I'll be running a ported N54 head with Schrick mid-lift cams. Hoping we can see numbers in that zip code with 20psi. Pure speculative hope. :-D
