So just saw this very comical video on you tube or maybe it was here, but anyway they designed a T style filter, hint it's called hydra-mat lol you didn't invent the wheel. Unless you cover the entire floor with that hydra-mat you still have the possibility of starvation regardless how big that T is because there spaces! But since you're the fuel guru, I'm sure you already know that you should utilize the hoses coming from the fpr to saturate the pads at all times, there wouldn't be a question whether or not fuel is touching the pad which would be another insurance policy for your customer. I mean you do care about them right? I wonder how many engines could fail because of this, I mean a split second of fuel starvation (lean)won't hurt anything Right?

This is why I keep the bucket, it has clips that utilizes the fpr lines and keeps the mats saturated with fuel and 2 I cut the bottom out so the mats are exposed to the fuel in the tank like in TEC's thread. These buckets can come from any 3-series models as they are all the same 2006-2011 so getting a bucket is fairly cheap so the big emphasis to go bucket-less so you don't ruin your bucket is bs but for those of you who do care you can use a bucket say from a 328 same year get it for fairly cheap and you can leave your bucket intact and when the time comes to revert back to stock there it is.

PS, the black fittings you see in the pics are for AN fittings which you really can't attach to the walbro just ask and they can get you the same mat with a close tolerance fitting that is pushed onto the walbro.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it but when you say you have "developed" when in reality Holley has had these mats out for quite some time is hilarious since (2014). These types of mats are not just autox guys or gals it's a great solution to not have to use a venturi, maybe thats why it hasn't been offered earlier because it would then make his "tuned venturi" obsolete.

FuelIt never claimed to have invted that mat, and they actually said in the initial offering it was a custom hydramat made exclusively for them by Holley. They also have pointed out the same things you did several times but offer options because choice sells. Jesus man.

You need to get out more often lol, there has been folks running T style mats for a while this is nothing new. Maybe new to you and to his customers because again the Venturi is not needed once you use these mats.

Main point here is, Fuel-IT does have some awesome products to bring to the platform. If you don't want any of those products, that's completely fine.. That's why we have competitors or even the outgoing engineers that would rather test their own creations.

Either way, I am content with the money I spent on my fuel pump. I am not upset with Fuel-IT.. I labeled their statements as a "Bad Choice of words"

And thank you Derek for your 0.02, but they way you handle false truths and I handle them are completely different (not trying to be a smart ass or rude) I am very direct and I don't sugar coat anything, but any company making false claims makes me question their integrity and once you lose that you have nothing. A relationship between a customer and a vendor should transparent as possible with no reading between the lines. This is not the first time I have ran across this with said company....example look at the difference below and sure you can say it's their prerogative to mark items up and sure that has some validity to it but why? Did they create this one too? But we as the consumer allow a vendor do this why because it's a BMW?

No worries, No offense taken and I understand those points. I'm not arguing your points but.. Even though it is simple technology and it's something that could be done cheaper, 90% of the platform would rather buy something from a vendor that way if something messes up its not "their" fault. It's then a refund/exchange through a vendor.

As mentioned, If you want to be more of an engineer for the platform then you have the right to do so. If others would rather get something assembled or relabeled from a vendor for one reason or another then that is fine to do so.

The main thing here is even though they are making A LOT of money off the platform.. Not much is going to change because of the way this platforms mindset is. At least 20% of this platform rely on vendors to get anywhere with their build. They buy these cars after seeing a couple youtube videos and they say "HEY! I CAN AFFORD THAT" not, "Hey, that looks like a fun new build" It is what it is.

Either way, I do respect you for standing your grounds on your situation. Who knows maybe someone from Fuel-IT will chime in to say their 0.02 too.

I really do like that there are vendors out there at least putting some amount of R&D into the platform. Without people having a way to make money off this.. We wouldn't have a lot of what we do now, or the know how.. publicly that is.

I agree to a point. My issue is that I hate to see price gouging. It's amazing that things haven't changed in the tuning industry over the last 20 years. Back in the 90's there was so much price gouging going on just because companies could get away with it. I opened a parts/tuning company just to break up a lot of the gouging I saw going on. Believe me when I say our competitors were pissed at our pricing. We were getting calls and emails almost daily asking why were messing up the program for everyone else. Fast forward to today and its still happening.

If you take the time out to develop a part how much profit is a fair amount to make on it? Consider aftermarket exhaust systems for a second. Exhaust systems are simply metal tubes to carry exhaust gases out the back end of your car. The parts that go into making an exhaust system are almost the same across every platform...metal tubing, x-over, flex section, resonator, and muffler. If that's the case why does an Audi B5 S4 turbo back exhaust cost 1/3 of some of the exhaust systems for a 335i's? Companies will try to say because of the research and development to bring it to market but the truth of it is that they know that there are those that don't know any better and will pay the money. Its one thing if someone knows the truth and decides to pay more money than a product is worth because of whatever reason (to say they own this companies part, etc.) but taking advantage of the uninformed is not cool in my book.

We paid $269 a piece for those mats and put them at $299 to cover our costs (mats and Paypal fees). That mat is 18" x 9" (dimensions of the passenger side tank) so price that out for a non-custom hydromat and I think you'll see we're not price gouging. We did them simply for those people that need them, not as a money maker. BTW, yes, for that application we do recommend having the return lines secured to the mat as most that use them are running road courses.

As you see, there isn't an option for the Walbro 450 with the dimensions of our tank.

FTR, we aren't being uncivil...we are simply responding to being blatantly called out with information after being falsely accused of price gouging. IIRC, isn't this 07Tundra under a new user name and TEC that are trying to launch a new DIY option?
