My OTC low profile “racing” floor jack blew a seal. Luckily it didn’t happen while I was lifting anything. It happened after I lowered the jack and now my car is stuck up on jack stands!
I’ve had this jack for about seven years. What would you suggest for a new one? Or is there an easy fix? Thanks.
EDIT: Actually, I fixed it. The seal wasn’t blown. The fill screw had loosened and one of the dual pistons was stuck down. A large flat head screw driver saved the day.

Thinking about a QuickJack. Do you have to use the BMW jack pad adapters with it?

No. It comes with 4 short and 4 tall rubber blocks. I just put the block under the pad or under the frame rail.

I like it. But what makes it great also makes it a pain.

Setting it up, aliging it, checking it aligning it...

We just took it down to another garage where we are parting out a 335i. Can't do that with a regular lift!

Good point portability huge would be amazing if their was extension so could drive on and lift from tires like an alignment rack.

I have two of these: https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200514333_200514333?cm_mmc=Google-pla&utm_source=Google_PLA&utm_medium=Automotive

Gets under my lowered E92 front and sides which both have CF lips. Car is very low. Great jacks from my experience of 3 years, lift high. No more driving on to boards etc.

However, I hear there are a few identical models rebranded or knock offs which cost less. No idea if they are of lower quality but they do look identical. Forget where I saw the comparisons.

I have the low profile 3 ton from harbor freight. It is heavy so you are taking places you will hate it but it works great with the low profile Tomioka race ramps. Mine is a few years old and sees a ton of use on my cars. I still use the jack and jack stands most of the time even though my father has a lift because getting my 335i on his lift is a pain.

I can't find a cheap lift for 1200 anymore. A year ago I could, but now they are all 1600+. I'm not looking for anything special either, I have high ceilings and didn't need a base plate, don't need a 15K one, heck a 9K is plenty. Got any links to those for 1200?

fwiw I don't know if I would want to be under the cheapest one on the market. Some food for thought. Hopefully you can find one for 1200 with good reviews.

Eh, I ain't skerred. I've seen far more accidents from lifts happen from misuse or poor operation, even on brand name ones. In a global economy its only a matter of the company with the cheapest labor and lowest advertising budget that had the cheapest price. Sure, fit and finish comes into play as well but it's not that big a deal.

I was surprised by the little 1.5 ton from harbor freight, have had it for a couple years now and use it at home and at work when a car is too low to swing the lift's arms underneath it. It's taken a lot abuse and I can't say I've ever had an issue with it.

I don't trust Harbor Freight equipment typically but this has exceeded my expectations.

i like my Quick Jack allot. BL-5000 EXT a little longer allow you to work on wider range of cars/suv.. and it literally dissapear once you store it. hydraulic unit mounted on the wall and jacks stored in the corner behind the garage door rails secured by safety chains. for the price cant go wrong. no cement drilling, studs... Make sure you have a flat ish garage floor before ordering it. the slightest slope on the floor would compromise its safety.

Good tip about the floor. Prior to mine, I had someone come in and level the floor high spots with a concrete grinder.
