Just a quick post for those that may be in search of ignition on power in the trunk. Most of us have done a golf tee mod - that's the stupid flap on the passenger muffler that is vacuum controlled (imagine you own a German Citroën). Anyway the control module is KL15 on, simple wire pair. On the Z4 it's on the driver side, right between the rear tail panel and the stand-off where the trunk armature mounts. On e8x/e9x probably on the other side. The giveaway is the little module with two vacuum lines going to it and a pair wire loom attachment. No reason for vacuum anywhere else in the trunk.
You can pick up power on the red wire (just make a spade tip connection and plug it in) and GND can be done right where the vacuum control module bolts to the chassis. Just check that the painted thread standoff has body ground continuity - they typically do because the 10mm steel bolt threads cut to bare metal.
