This is the IC that deals with the brunt of amperage feeding the LPFP, and can overheat with LPFP's which can drawer greater amperage that the stock unit.

Section 5.4.3 explains the resistor that is next to the chip on the EKP. Seems that resistor can be changed to allow more current at the expense of more emission interference.

Changing that resistor should allow more load but may have to shield it better.

Posting this in the discussion - @ajm8127 points out the following:

BTN8982 replaces BTN7960, is pin for pin compatible, has lower on state resistance and has higher current carrying capabilities. https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/search.html#!view=discontinued&term=BTN7960
