Looks like @DOC_Race and OCD have more in store for us. I wonder how this will compare to the other ported heads available:

If this includes an oversize valve option with all Ferrera components then I'm down. I have a need for 8500rpm for my end goals :)

Ferrera has stated they are certain that their valvetrain is fully functional with zero valve float up to 8500rpm.

If that's true, then N54 hydraulic lifters are more robust than the M5x / S5x lifters that tap out right above 7000 rpm. Interesting.

The S5x is using way more complicated designs to accommodate variable valve lift. Something that the N54 doesn't have and isn't burdened with.

While I'm not sure what the N54's lifters are capable of, I've been down this road with the 4G63 back in the early 2000's. I over-ran those lifters and had to have custom machined solid lifters made. Been there before, it doesn't scare me :).

Hopefully less expensive

I agree, but I doubt it.

OCDWorks isn't inexpensive to start with and you are going to have their mark up on it and then Doc Race's mark up. Two hands in the kitty before it gets to the end customer vs. say ABR whom I assume does it all in house.

That being said more competition is better for the customer.

Is ABR still considered good, after what happened with them and Phuong's car on the MMP group? Honest question.

He's eyeballing a standalone

Standalones are like $3k+ IIRC? I might be looking into this avenue in the future when I swap in some Schrick cams, I should have a head capable of almost 9000rpm. What are the other benefits of a standalone ECU? Could it be coded for more security with port injection? (shuts down on misfire)
