Dct shifter retrofit f30

Hi all,

While it is not the biggest update, I have gotten in contact with ccfj1. He is very busy currently which is why he has not been active on the forums.

Currently the emulator (information from ccfj1):
a.) Is pretty much finished, but needs long term testing.
b.) Is as close to plug and play as possible, but needs a bit of DIY to becoming fully functional.
c.) It is compatible with any GWS.

@ccfj1 if you want to get info for CAN DATA to/from GWS feel free to ask me. For example we can raise led light when in auto mode drive sending other drive mode code to gws.

Small update.

I have pretty much finshed the adapter.

Its all working perfectly on the bench, just wait for a small adapter board to be produced and then will post up.

There seems to be some discussion on gear jumping (as in out of gear).

If you are getting this then you have the wrong gws shifter, you are trying to use a dct shifter in a non dct car, this wont work, (and i suspect will never work), if you are getting this, then get the correct shifter.

AFAIK (and happy to be proved wrong), only the f85 (x5m) gws shifter works with the auto box. any other gws shifter (dct) will not work).

even the f85 has its porblems.

1: no park button.
2: no d/s led light when in drive
3: so sport mode (normally right shifted) on non M gws.
4: no manual shifting on GWS directy, but paddles work 100%

1 not an issue.
2: is fisxed with adapter
3: still looking at this
4: as above.

Will post up as soon as its installed and working.

P.S the f85 gws shifter does not kick you out of geat (ever)....

Somewhat yes, after further conversation with ccfj1, he is working on building his own workshop. He said he will resume this work once that is complete. No ETA, all we need right now is patience.

This is generational, but how do you get into S1 mode? I see it just goes from D1 to M1

It’s in Sport mode, but the F80 cluster can only display gear numbers 1 to 8, not S1 to S8. The transmission is still in Sport mode with auto-shifting. When using the paddle shifters, it switches to manual mode. My emulator translates the F80 shifter’s CAN bus data to match the F30 shifter, so the car behaves just like it would with a real F30 shifter.
