Torgus,
I could see a water cooled turbos being useful for those deep in the south like myself that can see 110+ degree summer days. Also, our cars are already setup for water cooled turbos, why not take advantage of it?

Unless I am mistaken your external outside air temp has nothing to do with wanting a water cooled turbo. The water cooling around the bearing helps during all operating conditions but gives its greatest benefits during hot shutdowns. The water will “thermal siphon” and continue to pull heat out of the turbocharger even after the engine has been shut down and the water pump is no longer pumping. This will keep the exhaust heat stored in the turbine housing from coking the oil in the turbocharger and potentially damaging the bearing and turbine-side oil seal. They also make 'turbo timers' which will continue to circulate the water after you turn off the car for a set time.

If you run your car with a non water cooled turbo hard, let it idle a bit before shutting it off to prevent coking. That is all you need to do.

There is no reason to not take advantage of it other than the extra cost of the turbo. Most top mounts who wants oil & water cooled will be look at Garrett so add roughly $500 on to the price of the precision turbo roughly $2500 depending on model + lines etc.

Agree with Torgus. The difference in ambient temp between a hot and cool climate is insignificant relative to the turbo-produced heat. It will, ,however, have a greater effect on IATs and coolant temps.
