I've been running this setup since feb/17 and cover over 20k miles, pads are still well over 50% (hawk 5.0)

So I borrowed a dragy and finally ran some tests today.

The kit basically bolts onto your stock 1m/m3 rotors and I think its a quite a good bang for buck.

Tyres where cold and so is the weather but still manages to pull up nice and quick.

Just showing of a great alternative that works and is serving me well

I hadn't thought of using the draggy for braking comparisons. Tires typically make a bigger impact in stopping distances than brakes. I'm going out of town for a week but when I get back I think I'll do some comparison tests. I'll use my car and my friends - same car, only difference is brake setup. We'll use my wheels and tires since his wheels won't clear my brakes. We'll have to compare vehicle weights to make sure they are in a similar vicinity but they are both 6MT E90 335s of the same year. I can't wait to do this to see what kind of difference it makes!

Stopping distances = maximizing pad/rotor torque and tire grip. It's likely you are feeling better brakes from more aggressive pads, but if you want even shorter stopping distance, keep pushing the relative "streetable" limits of both pads and tires together

Before I had nitto nt 01 semis on apex arc 8 rims with hawk 5.0 pads on stock calipers.

Now I'm on 20 vossen wheels with michelin sports cup 2 tyres with the brembo calipers with hawk 5.0 pads and the car stops way better.

Once you warmed up the nt 01 with the stock rotors/calipers and hawk pads there was no way you could lock them up and you really could feel the limitations and how under braked the car was

The brembos took the braking to another level altogether and was a vast improvement, I'm only going on feel here as the dragy wasn't available

With the current setup the car stops much faster and with less effort and the abs intervenes often whilst before you had to stand on the brake pedal with no abs intervention.

The upgrade is worth every penny and then some.

I didn't want to limit.my self to any aftermarket budget brake setup because I've seen companies shut doors before and then finding spare parts and pads a nightmare

The front pads are of an Audi r8.and the rears are of a Porsche whilst on stock rotors or any aftermarket replacements like the ecs ones I have

I have a huge selection of pads from any manufacturer I want and they'll be around forever.

I'm never selling this car and its not my daily so having a pad choice was very important whilst not have to worry about availability in the future or spare parts for the calipers whilst on a budget.

Yes there are better kits out there but this is a future proof kit for me as this car will be with me till my last day on this planet.

No disrespect intended martymil - apologies if it came off that way. There are a ton of other factors that also play a role... Radial mount, new SS brake lines, old system being bled, etc.

All good, old system had new ss lines and new fluid and new pads bedded in properly and discs where like new as the car had 5000miles or 8500km on the clock.

so the only difference whats pictured in initial post but I went with hawk 5.0 pads in rear as well to match the original setup.

Only difference was wheels and tyres but both running semi's so pretty much the same if anything the 20's would be worse off but it still stops better than before.

Its only an observation and no data as the dragy wasn't available back then but best part is the results are uploaded to the system so you can run your car and check against this one.

So if you like to check your own car and see how it stacks up against this setup, I'm not saying this is the best but a future proofed budget setup that wont break the bank.
