Bimmerlife Fixed Coil Harnesses

@Alex@BimmerLifeTuning , I saw on Instagram that you now have a harness which the connectors are not supposed to disintegrate anymore. That's great as mine disintegrated in my hands. We installed the bimmerlife coil kit with electrical tape to hold the broken connectors together.

I also noticed that you are offering a "discount" to people with previous harnesses. Can you please let us know how you'd like to handle replacing the faulty harnesses?

As you know, you and I discussed the coil issue over Facebook Messenger, where you told me the coils you provide fit properly and that other aftermarket coils may have issues. After our discussion, I ended up figuring out what the issue was with the bimmerlife provided coils - I'm sure you're aware of that thread. That problem I solved with modification, so that's water under the bridge. The harness I cannot fix.

I was told that they would upgrade the connectors for $50 plus shipping there and back. The other option was spending $200 on a new replacement harness. I have not gone down either path because I cannot justify spending another $200 on a harness that replaces a faulty harness OR spending $50+ to repair a faulty harness plus dealing with pulling the harness out and having a week of downtime while it is repaired.

I'm just glad there is a solution. I'll gladly take six connectors and solder up the replacements myself.

The harness issue is an issue but easily fixed.

I know you shouldn't have to and bimmerlife should replace them totally free off charge, full stop, no excuses.

If you want to make money of a product you sell you should stand behind it even if you need to take a loss, this is what
makes you as a vendor stand out from the rest.

But its not going to effect the running of the coils in anyway.

Mine came in the post already broken so I emailed them to send me a new connector and that came broken too.

So I broke off all the locators and taped the connections together with electrical tape and put heat shrink tubing around it.

Looks far better and water proof.

Your description does not support "water proof". Is there more info?

Well ... water resistant ... I think that was the point. The BL kit with a cam cover, I can't see how water would be an issue anyway. The question on electrical tape is if the glue releases at above cylinder head temps. Anyway the solution is the new connectors not the mickey mouse shit that got sold with this setup. Even the wiring harness, honestly, is quite sub-par.

Electrical tape is not an issue as its designed to be heat resistant, heat shrink tubing is what keeps it all together.

Well it has to be water proof/liquid proof so it doesn't damage the ecu or wiring in case of a short or cause a fire.

All i'm saying it can be fixed with a patch in mean time or permanently, shouldn't have to but its up to the individual how much effort and downtime they are willing to put up with, now its up to Alex to come up with how he wants to handle this.

Maybe you have different electrical tape, but with the tape in the states, the glue liquifies when it gets hot and the tape can come off or just leave a bunch of nasty residue on the wires when it's removed. So, here at least, it's far from the ideal solution.
