Are there any possibilities to raise the seat in my 2008 3 series?

Many people across different platforms have been able to add height to their driver's seat by adding spacers under the seat rail and replacing the OEM bolt with a longer grade 8.8 one. I have read all of the potential dangers of this modification and I feel alright with going on with it anyways.

On to my dilemma.. I took the bolt out to see about getting a longer one and it quickly became apparent that it was nothing like anything I could source. Upon closer examination, the bolt isn't even perfectly round. I hit up the internet to find the part number and do some research only to find that the bolt has trilobular threads and is apparently a one time use bolt given to the coating on it (or whatever).

So with that, my only other option that I can think of would seem to be an adapter that can raise the OEM seat that bolts in with the OEM bolts. No, I won't use a phonebook or a cushion. I get off work at 6 AM and at the coldest point of each day, I'm keeping the seat warmers.

Any advice?

Why do you want to do this? Too low? I wanted to do this so that I could put some bigger woofers under the seats, but I think I decided that messing with something as vital as the seat brackets wasn't worth a little extra bass.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm 5'3  I just don't feel as though I sit high enough in this vehicle when compared to other vehicles. For example I can hardly see the hood.

Honestly though I'd be real careful about messing with your seats. Everything seems fine until the massive amounts of energy that can be transferred in a motoring accident, a lot of people kind of lose touch with how insane those stresses can be.

I will take proper steps to do it the best way I can. Most stress will be applied in in a rear end collision I would think.

Can't make us happy lol :p I'm thinking that a race seat would work for you but again no warmers

I live in australia seat coolers would be much nicer here!!

I have installed some lovely M3 seats recently and found they sit a tad higher then my 335i seats...

Lol chassis probably allows for correct fitment... If it raises you enough maybe I'll get a m3 seat.. would you say it's an inch man??

nah more like 10mm
Well damn, thanks for the response however.

Wonder if the seat at its lowest would be about right with this.. I asked if OEM seats would bolt up but no response yet. Can always drill but for 140 I'd rather not.

Hard to say for sure without one in front of me but it seems that maybe his guess was on the tall side.
