Hey guys, i’ve been snooping around in here for some years but since i’m building my own motor now, i’ve decided to create my own profile and thread for it. I have a alpine white on black bmw 335is.

up until the motor gave out, the car was a simple build:
- fbo
- frankenturbos f21bi
- port injection/reflex +
- dual walbro 450’s
- full e85 24 psi
- tuned by pure evil

Now the motor blew in march of this year and i decided to build it with:
- cp pistons
- molnar rods
- king main/rod bearings
- billiam 11mm headstuds
- darton dry sleeves
- vulcan cooper ring head gasket
- built by fferacing in deer park LI

I plan to keep the turbo setup the same for now and maybe next year do a custom twin g25-660 setup and upgrade the clutches just for the sake of being different (i know similar power will be achievable with a single turbo but the idea just seems fun to me). If anyone has any questions/suggestions feel free to comment please!

Beautiful ride and the build sounds fantastic! Please do a custom twin g25-660 setup. That would be awesome.

Looking forward to more updates.
Thankyou! Im still trying to budget it all. Hopefully i can iron out the details and collect parts during the winter and have it completed by the end of next summer.

Update: i finished assembling & installing the motor and am currently doing the break in process while fixing all issues that come up along the way. So far i need sway bar end links, a new set of ignition coils, another low pressure fuel sensor, & driveshaft guibo & center support

Nice looking build. Always feels so good plopping a fresh motor in. That first start is always exciting!

Are you using a break in oil?

Sorry for the late reply. No break in oil used here. Used conventional oil (15w50 as recommended by my builder) and changed the oil 10 mins after startup, then 50 miles, then 250 miles, then 500 miles, and today at 1500 miles.

Just an update guys, i’ve been driving the car, crossed 1500 miles today & Took the time to retorque the head studs.

Also, im having an issue where the car breaks up pretty bad at anything over ~4500 rpm under load. The car has new ngk 97506 gapped to 0.020 and new eldor coil packs. Injectors have been flow tested and passed. This has truly been frustrating to track down because im shooting to crank these frankenturbos up to see how much i can squeeze out of them before moving on to my next setup and this is slowing the process down. Also im having an electrical issue where the car is throwing a ton of kcan communication faults. Ii’ve checked the battery, alternator, power cable, and every single kcan module. The dash is throwing every light and resetting itself constantly along with the idrive. No clue whats going on but im about to check the body wiring harness. I suspect maybe water got in the car for the few months that it sat and maybe the wires are damaged as a result. Fingers crossed guys!

Hope you figure it out! let me know what the cause of the misfire was. Also whose your tuner?
Its pretty cold in nyc these days and i may have come down with the flu, but when im over all of that i’ll update you guys with the fix. Right now i have 4 ideas of what it might be. Maybe one of the spark plugs porcelain is cracked internally and i cant see it, a faulty coil, possible injector bore has been ovaled, or the wiring harness could be acting erratic. I’ll go through it one by one and figure it out! Also im tuned by jason from pure evil tuning.

Yet another update! I have situated the electrical issue I made a post about earlier with my cluster going haywire and getting a million kcan codes. Here is the update. With the help of a good friend of mine in the middle east, After plugging out module after module, I noticed that the combox and cic would make the cluster go haywire whenever either one was plugged in. With them both plugged out the car was fine. Being that the cic controls the combox, I decided to try a new cic. That didnt fix it, so I traced the wire from the cic toward the footwell module, where I found the kcan wires all merging together. I then decided to take off the sleeve covering them, where I found my culprit. Now all is well again on that part. God bless people that have to deal with electrical problems daily. This was so taxing.

As for the misfire, I noticed that cyl4 injector can be pulled out with two fingers. It has literally no resistance whatsoever so I ordered a injector bore repair kit from PPIFPR. It is supposed to arrive friday so fingers crossed that will solve my issue.

Its been a few months but im back with yet another update! It seems like none of the remedies i tried fixed the misfire, so i took everything apart. Also sorry to disappoint yall but i am going single turbo! Still undecided on which kit but it just seems to be the best option for me as a college student (i actually graduated yesterday). In the mean time, ive redone front & rear main seals (i used a victor reinz gasket on the rear main seal and it was leaking profusely which may very well have caused the stuttering under boost i was experiencing) and did some other little upgrades to keep me busy in the mean time. So far i’ve done an aluminum valve cover that i will powder coat maybe this weekend, a ebay intake manifold, a mosselman oil thermostat which i am still waiting on, nexsys b58 coil conversion with ngk 94201 spark plugs, relocate the brake booster line, a paradigm oil filter cap, and some an lines to the stock oil cooler.

P.S: unfortunately, i had to get the car towed one night and the bumper broke. I have a replacement and a fender which i will put on when the car runs again.

This thread probably has been forgotten lol but i have a large update! I went mia to save up some money and go through the entire car. I have redesigned the engine bay to tidy it up a bit, and i have purchased the motiv motorsport single turbo kit, full exhaust, and intercooler off of their shop car (978whp e90 335i). Im itching to throw this thing in asap and hope that the car runs flawless from here on out. Here are some pics!

Nice progress! That valve cover turned out looking great👍 What turbo is with that Motiv kit?

Did you ever receive the injector bore repair kit? Some people on here reported issues recieving theirs, curious how it went for you?

Thankyou! The turbo is a xona rotor 105-68.
Also i did receive the injector bore kit but it took some serious nagging.. all in all it seems the seller is a honest guy he just might be a little lackadaisical with shipping items out. For reference to other people it took me about 5-6 weeks to get the repair kit
