Automatics are getting so much faster than the manuals I remember my 05 GTO LS2 T-56 manual 6 speed was a bit faster than the 4 speed automatic (stock at least).

I think manufacturers are using automatics again.

Not on max effort performance cars. The increased power loss for an auto (compared to a direct drive clutch) still hasn't been solved...and even though the auto's are really fast now days they still aren't as fast as a DCT.

That's why the Ford GT still uses the DCT and not the 10sp auto. Same for Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Ford is mulling over the DCT option in the new Cobra which would be really cool.

It’d be really cool and i spose the decision will be about economics at the end of the day. Or ford could surprise me and actually make a car that i would want to buy ...
