6266 compression cover cracked how serious.. just installed :/

this Kit is brand new i just installed and i guess i over tighten the vacuum fitting and notice this crack. I don't see anything on logs and it holds boost pressure just fine. how serious is this can i just forget about it and hope for the best lol.

I'm no welder bit that looks like a 1min job start to finish to me.

I would have it welded if it were mine. It probably doesn't leak enough air to be noticeable but I'm kind on neurotic about these things. What if the crack propagated? It will be easier to weld now than later when the crack is full of contaminates.

looks like fitting was over tightened, remove fitting, spot weld it and chase the threads with a 1/8npt tap to get rid of any crud from welding .

The crack will have to be drilled out and notched as prep for welding. They’ll also have to preheat since it is cast aluminum. Not a 3 min job, but not difficult for an experienced welder.

I ended up biting the built because the brand new replacement housing was only 230 bucks.
