I don't understand why you'd want a 4" exhaust when you're only running twins anyways. You're not making anywhere near enough power to benefit from 4" and it wouldn't provide you with enough back pressure. Unless you're shooting for over 1000whp make a custom 3 or 3.5" exhaust and call it a day.

There's a small dick joke hidden in here somewhere. I'm sure of it.

Again the goal was to see if anyone has collected data from dual 3” or larger, and also where to buy from. A lot of people are missing the point. This is not an exhaust flow physics quest. Its a log/dyno quest.
I've not seen many examples of people on this platform measuring against improvements in that manner. It would be great to have this information but I'll be impressed if you find it!

It is in the archives of e90 post. Their search sucks, so use the google trick:

"Search Terms" site:e90post.com

Google crawls their site better than their own search engine.

I don't know how the E90 exhaust is, but my E89 N54 exhaust, especially the passenger side pipe, was a complete kinked up joke.

Ha... that freaky little pipe creeps me out. Always looks like someone left a rubber band on an arm too long till it started to wither away.

That said... mine is the 35is version and I love that exhaust, stock or not. I would never risk chasing an aftermarket exhaust on the Z out of fear of just being disappointed.

35is is definitely different though honestly I know nothing about it. In my case I saw what these guys could do and went for it. Glad I did ... but yeah could have backfired

well once you add a turbo to the mix the backpressure thing goes right out the window so the largest pressure differential you can have between the turbine inlet and outlet will make it spool faster up to the point there is no more room for improvement. there will never be a torque loss from lack of backpressure

That is actually false. I didn't believe it when it first came up either.

Sorry, let me rephrase. Unless your turbo is massively oversized and just starts to spool at 6000 RPM the turbine wheel will be the choke point.

I found a couple of good sites for exhaust pieces. The problem with initial test will be that i already have 3”’catless dp,and a dual catless ex. With no resonators, x pipe. So the new exhaust will be comparing the two. I found a local shop with a dyna pack, which is a hub style.Ill do a run on that. I would like to send it out once done,to someone running stock pipes making 700whp.

I had a twin 3" catback made. No mufflers, twin 3." High flow cats. Sorry no dyno data. Yes you can make 700 whp with a stock catback. Doesnt mean you should or that you wouldnt make any more HP with a freer flowing exhaust.
What if you did a straight down pipe pull vs 3” pull on dyno? Also what turbos are you running

You know all this testing has been done, and published. But because this was all done 9-10y ago you have to dig for it. I think COBB even had a blog where they published all their research on downpipes, exhausts, no exhaust, etc. I also think ETS had this on their website for the longest (but they don't support N54 much any more so it may be gone).
