Autocar got a chance to test drive a prototype G20 330i. Its a slightly longer and wider car with a longer wheelbase and made of a high proportion of aluminum, magnesium and high-strength steel. This has made it up to 55kg lighter and 15-20% torsionally stiffer.
It has a 'variable sport' steering box which is apparently not active steering, and optional adaptive dampers from Tenneco. The 330i will come with a 2.0L turbo-four producing over 250bhp and 295 lb-ft torque bound to an eight speed automatic which we can assume is the ZF 8HP. In markets where you get a lower model, apparently manual gearboxes will be fitted. Some engines will receive the xDrive treatment and apparently there are variants with a standard drive and M Sport trim that come with an LSD.
