11.470s run on 93 octane

I disconnected my PI and installed a custom tune for 93 octane from Ken @ Wedge performance who did a great job. I ran the car at the Willowbank Raceway on Saturday night and did 3 runs. Results were 11.53s@120mph, 11.64s @119mph and 11.470s@120mph. Engine ran clean on all runs with no fault codes or other issues. I am happy with the results. Data log and time sheet for run are below.

ER Charge pipe with twin Forge DVs
Fuel-it Stage 3 LPFP
Bimmerlife R8 coils and NGK 95770 spark plugs 0.022"
AR catless downpipes
Exhaust is stock apart from 200 cpsi secondary cats
Custom tune from Wedge Performance using MHD
Transmission is a Nizpro upgraded ZF 6HP21 with Stage 3 xHP tune and stock TC
M3 diff with 3.25 ratio
Mickey Thompson 275/40R17 ET Street S/S tyres

thats a real solid pass for 93. would you call this a base file or did you and Ken dial this in with a few revisions?

a little more top end and you could be working on 10s with pump fuel

This is the final revision (4th) from Ken. He does a great job at tuning. I am considering changing the diff ratio back to 3.45 as I am going through the traps at 5,800 rpm in 4th with the 93 compared to 6,500 rpm with the E85. 3.45 ratio should bring the rpm back into the 6,500 rpm range.

you not planning on running ethanol anymore? if so, yeah the gearing change might be beneificial, be curious what it would do for you.

id be too tempted to put it back on e85 and leave it for that possibility.

these rb super evos, they 15, 17 or 19t variety?

No, I will stick with 93 unless the price of E85 drops. Price here in Australia is $4.5 a US gallon. How much is E85 over in the USA? Also, if I stuck with E85, I would need a built engine and a freer flowing exhaust system as I believe the current OEM system is causing too much back pressure. I priced a Ghassan G800 engine and to import one of those into Australia would cost $16,000. This would be great to have but I cannot justify the outlay when I can buy a complete BMW 335i car for $10K to $15K over here. Also, the built engine will not make it go any faster but would ensure it didn't blow up. I am hoping the diff ratio change will reduce the time by a tenth or so. The Super RB Evos are 17T.

E85 is about $2.00 a gallon so way cheaper than 93. I think 93 is around $4.00
You don't need an upgraded exhaust until 800+ HP. Lots of people have done 800 on stock exhaust.

How are u finding the nizpro trans on the latest stg 3 xhp revision? Ive found it a big improvement but, I keep thinking our trans would like much more mainshaft snapping aggression in the tune. Afterall we have a nice set of billet ones in there.

I find the nizpro transmission is going very well with the Stg 3 xhp tune. I haven't had any issues with it since I installed it. It certainly doesn't change as quick as some of the later transmissions (DCT or DSG) but it gets the job done without breaking. Now that I am on 93 instead of E85, it will certainly handle the power.

If you havent already, push the shift to most agressive setting and add the line pressure bump. Then drop down shift blips back by -30% ish on 1st,2nd 3rd.
Do the reccomended run in miles in grandma driving and you wind up with very fast shifts. I think a custom tune on the nizpro is the way to go , so i will be doing that down the track.

I'm running a stage 3 xHP tune on my stock 6HP21. I'm going to try adjusting those settings....see if I can get it shifting faster. To me it still feels like it shifts a little too slow sometimes.

service your trans plus solenoids and get a custom trans file from sutphin

Yeah....I did that around a month ago. Pulled the valve body, new sleeve seals a D seal, new shift solenoids, filter, and fresh fluid.

I think I might try playing around with the xHP settings...they have a line pressure bump option, and shift speed option I might mess with.

It shifts fine...just doesn't feel very firm.

You did the service but do you have a custom tune?

if not get a Sutphin tuning file and leave xhp custom stuff alone

Custom tune is a great idea. I think the nizpro has more to offer than stg3 can get out of it.

The xhp does like to have a strict run in of low throttle & low load only miles (as reccomended) and it gives you the best outcome if you are disciplined. No getting tempted to give it a quick blast.
