Unlocking the E9X backup camera!

Also, did you test the camera to make sure it engages when you go into reverse?

I tested the module by connecting a DVD player (lol) to it and shifting into reverse. It worked.
I got the new camera in Tuesday, and installed it last night. Oddly enough, the new camera had a longer cable, which meant I didn't have to fish the thick molded plastic circuit board thing through the flex tube, just the camera connector. Much easier this time around.

My module doesn't seem to be sending out 12v out of the white wire to be connected to the camera, so I just tapped into the red 12v line that goes into the module and that works fine. I'm not worried about it killing my battery, as I confirmed that the car shuts off power about 20 minutes after you take the key out.

Here's a pic of the screen:

You'll notice some distortion in the feed. I can only assume that that's the camera trying to compensate for the wide angle. Oh well.

Interesting. What do you mean by thick molded plastic circuit board?

Here is a photo of what I got. Does yours look like this:

On the long cable that has the mini connector and the RCA, there's a molded plastic thing where the power wires come out. Inside it is a circuit board. You can only tell by cutting it apart.

Is there any kind of lag on turning on the camera when putting the car in reverse?
I've heard that these tend to do it a lot.

This is due to not twisting the wires enough apparently. I went with a different method, if you want to use this emulator box(Its much more cost effective than my way) than I have the box and the plug and play play harness to splice into for sale.

comes with a green wire that your supposed to cut to activate the guidelines from the camera but instead of doing this I woukd like to activate the ones from the car (hopefully they'll move as steering wheel moves) anyone knows if it' possible

Yes, I've read about a way to do this but its expensive and if my memory serves me correctly it involves buying some euro 5 series modules that do not belong to this car. Dynamic lines are not worth the hassle, you'd be better of buying an xcalink which does this.
