My cars clutch is slipping so I logged it in 4th gear to be sure, after 3800 RPM the RPM rise quickly and during that time there is a momentary gear change to 3rd gear. This is a manual and I did not change the gear. Could anyone help me understand why this is? Is it possible that something other than the clutch is buggered? Thanks.

there is no gear position sensor in e90's. It calculates it by speed and rpm
