Hey everyone! I've been a member technically back when @doublespaces was still testing the forum out back in 2016. Shortly after selling my 07 335i I manual swapped, wrote a DIY, and enjoyed a lot in the process with the help of Omar @ Vader Solutions. Learning so much about the conversion process. Unfortunately it was essentially a bone stock car with just a couple bolt ons. No turbo upgrade, meth, port injection, etc. Came across an 07/07 build Silver 335i in my town with 96K miles bone stock never modified, which nowadays is rarity with these cars. Picked it up for a great deal @ $6900. So with that I decided to get back into the N54 game. There was a lot of things I didn't get a chance to do. With new knowledge at my hands, and experience. I'm back and looking to do some fun things (Single turbo, tuning, 8.8 rear, etc). I'll be traversing the different posts here to try and piece together some solid knowledge on the tuning aspect especially. I've read @V8bait guide, as well as others, including posts from here and other locations (bimmerpost, n54tech, etc). I'm thinking about piecing together a solid update to the guide to incorporate more in-depth understanding of the different tables and their functions. It'll be a while as I'm learning myself as I go. Having a solid fundamental understanding of engine functions and tuning aspects in a general sense from studying from HP Academy. I've been reading the function frame a little to try and get a better insight on DME logic. It's a lot to take in, but I enjoy it.

Hope to have many fruitful discussions in the future. I've attached pics of my car, named her the "Silver Bullet" :tearsofjoy: So far just chargepipe, diverter valves, BL coils, NGK 97506 plugs gapped @ 0.022, catch can on high side, and PCV valve upgrade. I recently did LCI trunk, lights, and front headlights. I've been self tuning the car as well. After doing a decent amount of reading, noticed I'm having to adjust my fuel scalars almost too much on the high end lowering it down to 0.95 in some cells.... maybe indicative of another issue? Injectors? O2 sensors? Reset adaptations as well. I've got four index 9's, and two index 3's. I've attached a recent log, as well as the latest bin I've been adjusting. I've changed a lot of the breakpoints to allow for better resolution up top. I don't mind experimenting within safe means, but I am having a lot of fun doing this.

Welcome back! I remember that guide, it's still a valuable resource actually.

Edit: And yes, November 4th 2016 was five years ago, which makes this month the site's 5 Year Anniversary!

This is a great idea. There are alot of self tuners and even some people selling tunes that really don't know what they are doing. Alot of things people are doing in their tunes are out-dated and or just wrong. There are many niche threads I've found which offer knowledge that is really hard to find. It would be really nice to piece it all together.

That’s my goal to try and make things as straight forward as possible with a reasonable mindset when going into this. I’ve been trying to add more small details to the excel spreadsheet as I go. So hoping others will also chime in too to add to it. I see little replies here and there with small nuggets of info that seems crucial to know. Hoping to start a thread in advanced tuning and get the ball rolling and start gathering all this into one easy to read source. As HP Academy says: “Tuning is not magic, it’s a science that you can learn”. And I’m more than willing to put the time in to properly understand everything.
