Hello everyone, I've lurked a few times on here before but figured I might as well make an account, since I'm going to be getting into doing everything on my new to me semi-daily driver car (cough, project, cough).
So quick background on the car, right now it's at 67k miles, I got it with 60k on the odometer. From MY perspective everything was nearly showroom mint, and certainly the nicest condition car I've possessed. I was actually in the market for an ND Miata, but was not impressed and started looking at other 'roadster' options and... here we are.
I did purchase at a dealer, and was a little upset when I got there to check the car out it was the DCT transmission and not the 6 speed manual like listed, but I've quickly come to appreciate not having to row gears like a angry canoe pilot when I do get stuck in traffic (oh and A/C is nice). Or miss a gear when getting a bit excited...
I had brought my 'BMW' friend at the time who had an older 335i with N54 and the manual trans, I helped with doing a bit of work to but never bothered to learn the lingo or specs, and he seemed more excited than me!
So looked it over, we both realized right away that it wasn't bone stock, and the carfax the dealer had gotten showed it was in quite a few shops, had a bunch of 'routine' work done but obviously well under typically replacement intervals. Who ever the prior owner(s) were definitely took care of it but weren't inclined to do the work themselves (will NOT be the case with me).
I apologize I still don't know all the acronyms but the visible mods it had:
Cone filters on the factory inlets with pipe adaptors
Metal powder coated charge pipe from the intercooler to tbody, which it had a Turbosmart RaceportGenV BOV on (same I had on my old car)
Looked like the intercooler was aftermarket (all aluminum and bar/plate construction)
Buddy noticed it had 'outlets' and I confirmed
Later after I had got the car, I did an oil change ASAP (I didn't trust the dealer I got it from); I confirmed those mods and also catless downpipes. Also confirmed it had ID12 injectors and one step colder ngk plugs under the very good condition OE coils. Everything else was in very good condition, no leaks visible and the plastic and rubber underhood all were still elastic and not faded or cracked.
I got plans but this is way long for an introduction post as is, ha. If anyone wants to know me and my background, give a reply!
Looking forward to becoming a part of the community!
