N54 timing corrections while coasting and light throttle

Hey guys I'm chasing an issue I can't figure out.
2007 335i 6mt. Only mods are MHD and a dual cone intake.
Under coasting and light throttle I'm experiencing a surging or bucking kind of feeling. It disappears on deceleration or harder acceleration. I replaced the vanos solenoids but that didn't help. Car is healthy otherwise besides some wastegate rattle.

How old and what rev are your injectors? Same question on your plugs but I doubt that is it if it goes away when WOT.

Stock CP?

Did you ever figure out why you are getting corrections? I have got similar corrections around the same load you have.

Yeh it's normal in stock maps. It's VANOS overlap that causes that, since reducing it, I no longer have those issues. The EGR effect is probably good for emissions but not great for a smooth running engine.

This is normal behavior and you should be seeing them all over the place with normal driving especially highway driving.

Thanks for the reply but I am not getting these on stock maps (stage 0) or barely any. These corrections are happening on v9/v10 stage 1 91oct/95ron. I tried posting a thread but its stuck for approval. I have been looking at my logs and I can't see why. The corrections only happen on light load. The STFT are not far off but within +/-10%. The timing cyl 1*crk is around 20 during light load and 6 at high RPM under WOT. The same corrections happen on cylinders with new #12 injectors too. Using 99RON (93+ oct) fuel too.

Totally normal. Nothing to worry about. Only focus on timing correction in a full pull and even then for reference not absolute since there are many other parameters to watch as well. As carabuster said it’s vanos overlap. Don’t stress it. But a better question what brought on the journey to search here?

Thank you.
Because MHD app says "upload to spoolstreet" so I searched here lol. Also theres some good info here about self tuning.
