Misfire only on ethanol after installing Reflex

My old setup was running fine. I had a separate 93 and e85 tunes with PI control using an AIC2.

I installed a Motiv Reflex to run a flex tune (so I wouldn't have to switch maps all the time) , control boost, control 2nd fuel pump. I also upgraded to b58 coils. When I am only using 93 (e15) the car seems to run great. We moved on to tuning on e and now the car is breaking up. I am currently at e50 in the tank, mix of 93 and x98. I had used flex fuel from Rofo (e65) and had the same issue.

Looks to me like its running lean and I'm not getting enough fuel but my tuner said the file is good and says its something with my engine. So far installed new plugs gapped to .018, new VTT b58 coils, stretched the springs out to make sure the coils have good contact and replaced seals and decouplers on the injectors.

What is the best way to see if my PI is working correctly?

Setup:

DocRace (6266 gen 1)
Motiv Reflex
750cc PI injectors
450 walbro x2
BMP upgraded fuel lines
VTT B58 coils
VTT billet valve cover
stock IM but have a VTT billet IM on order
Index 12 injectors
Radium universal OCC
Wagner IC

Reflex Manual Go to page 18 and use TunerPro to run a bench test.
Would I need to disconnect the fuel rail to see if the injectors actually spray when performing the bench test? I logged the reflex and it only tells me that the connect is good. It says 'Ok - No Fail' for all 6 injectors.

I emailed motiv last week. Still waiting for a reply.

Update:

I went back to n54 delphi coils and the car does not break up when boost kicks in now on ethanol. Car feels much better going into boost and logs look good. I found some issues with the wiring harness adaptors. New harness adaptors are being shipped out. I may just solder the b58 connector directly to my wire harness if the new adaptors still have issues.

Do you have a log now that you got it fixed ? B58 or with the old N54 coils I am having a strange issue also. But I cant move it to another cyl so maybe wiring? not sure or leaning out on 1 cyl... its cyl 4 and only on E85

I'm still having the issue. The some of the pins on the adaptor harness were smaller just like the previous ones. It was causing a misfire at idle so I ended up just soldering the B58 connectors to my wire harness. I am still getting misfires at WOT only on e85. I replaced the VTT coils with OEM B58 coils but the metal springs in the boots are too big for the oem to have a good connection. I am waiting to hear back from Nexsus to get a set of their boots and springs and see if that fixes my issue.

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I’m having the same problem. Runs great on 93 but as soon as I start throwing ethanol into the mix it runs terrible on WOT. I suspect it has something to do with the ReFlex but I can’t pin point it. Going on 8 months with this problem and I’m at a complete loss

Did you ever solve this? Having the same issue, and feel like giving up. I have the latest firmware installed on the reflex, new plugs and coils and even refreshed the injectors. The misfire tends to move around but it always happens on e85, on 93 no problem. Maybe there’s something wrong with the harness?

No I have yet to find the solution. I reached out to Motiv to see what they had to say about it and after sending them a bunch of logs on 93 and E85 they told me they did not think it was a ReFlex problem. They said my Wastegate spring pressure and DC% don't really align on my logs which leads them to believe there may be some sort of leak whether it be a boost leak, manifold leak, or exhaust leak. Lower boost and pump fuel can be a little more tolerant of certain things compared to E85 since there is up to 40% more fuel volume.

I found a sizeable leak on my charge pipe where I deleted my BOV but ever since I fixed that I am dealing with the misfire on 93 as well. So I'm not sure what's going on. I have yet to do a proper leak test but I will be getting around to it soon. Hopefully that will shed some light on the situation. About to take the car to the junkyard at this point. It's driving me insane not being able to use the car to it's full potential lol.

The only thing I could get off mine was a MHD 005 error code which turned it to be a dirty ground cable, but the misfires still persist. Jake from motive said he’ll remote in next well to try and see what the real issue is, but you might be in to something about a boost leak 🤔

Not sure if this will help. I was having fueling problems with my motiv and come to find out the firmware was in dire need of updating. Used the boot loader and now my misfires are gone. Threw the car into a fit. I switched to single turbo and basically went thru everything. Updated the firmware that was just released last month and it’s good.

Sadly I have yet to get this fixed. Jake from Motiv is always busy and all I can do at this point is go through the harness and try to see if any of the pins are broken or connections are loose. All I have to go by is the ECA MHD005 error code and misfires on Cylinder 2 and 5.

Have you switched injectors around? Did you solder the jumper adaptor wires for the B58 coils?

Have you compression tested it? Are the Misfires constant? Sorry if you stated these things above I’m just looking to see what you have done compared to what I have done. I hd major misfire problems and check so many things.
