Hello all,

Thankfully I have been blessed with a bolted differential, I was planning on buying the Mfactory diff, after speaking to them for a bit they were saying how plug and play it is with the bolted system.

Is there anything I should do whilst disassembling it or reinstalling ? Such as anything new or perhaps tools ?

I’ve been looking online but not much about it is said. Will be great to find out

Fluid is a 'duh', make sure you use whatever is required (additives). Are the bolts one time use? I can't remember, but might be good to check. Any gaskets...

Otherwise, what do you have the ability to change?

There are a few specialized tools you will want to complete the job. Beyond basic hand tools you will want/need a bearing splitter to pull the inner races off of your factory diff (assuming you're reusing your bearings), a dial indicator with a magnetic base to double check your backlash, new output shaft seals. If the backlash is out of spec you will need an assortment of different thicknesses of bearing retaining c-clips to as just that.

I’ll try and find a bearing splitter.
Is backlash necessary? Because I’m just replacing everything, not changing anything except the actual LSD?

Backlash DOES need to be correct and could be effected by replacing the differential. Since the ring gear is bolted to it, any degree of lateral positioning of the face that the ring gear bolts to would effect your backlash. There are a lot of manufacturing tolerances, which when stacked could potentially effect that positioning. I understand that most people are fine however it would be irresponsible to not at least double check. If the tolerance is out, best case the differential whines. Worst case is it destroys the ring, pinion, and bearings in the rear end.

Thanks for that more in detail explanation I will be sure to buy a device... does it need to be a highly specialised tool ? (Expensive) or would an Amazon one work?
