Well I finally got my new built motor put in and the car starts then dies after a few seconds. I’ve verified timing, but I noticed that when I took my valve cover off the exhaust cam was out of time. After 2 full rotations it was back in time. I assumed it was a stuck vanos solenoid so I cleaned both well and put them back in connected them and cranked the car a bunch. Both cams stayed in time so I put the car together but still had the same issue. No codes either or limp mode. Any ideas would be appreciated

Just a update, got around to working on my car today. Tried a few things with no results. But Unplugging the vanos solenoids fixed the issue and the car ran perfectly after. Assuming it’s a stuck solenoid or a bad Gear.

I’ll do a little break down soon. But another update. Car runs perfect with just one vanos solenoid plugged in. Either or. But the moment I plug in both it dies. Any help would be appreciated

Huge thank you to @carabuser. The issues been sorted. I had the cam gears backwards. I read the German IN on the exhaust cam and put it on the intake side. Motor runs good now👍
When you mentioned VANOS it gave me flashbacks of doing my own cam install. Einlass meaning inlet is really confusing for everyone outside Germany!

Not to be a noob commenting on a post. If anyone has some free time and could look at my datalog and let me know if you have any advice. Much appreciated
