Gear display in KOMBI

Hi, I have seen that cars with DCT have different gear display in KOMBI.

Is it possible to do it on regular automatic? Is it ncsexpert coding?

There's is actually more differences. The DTC light comes up top middle of cluster with different icon. Also says traction/off next to gear display
Probably some other differences i missed.

I've wondered the same aswell if you can change to the lci gear display just by coding.

Have you updated kombi though winkfp?

Yes, I have tried updating to newest KOMBI version suggested by WinKFP (9242370->9316151), but getting an error:
Error 211:
Error on flash programming!
Reference project Falsche Projectnummer
Reference project PPP from SG = 1I5; PP from file = 2JU
So my KOMBI version is 9242370.

Would be nice to know 335is KOMBI version.

I have also tried to play with coding, adding 2TC (S2TCA SPORT GEARBOX WITH TWIN CLUTCH) to VO and default coding KOMBI, but it does not impact gear indicator.

I am also thinking it might come with CAN BUS message 1D2h (Transmission data display message), tried sending different data, but still no success.

Would be nice to get CAN BUS (KCan) logs from 335is or other BMW with DCT.

Ok. Wouldn't have a clue what you could try coding wise. I have a later model DCT cluster in my 6AT version car. Not sure if reading with NCS would help at all? But i do remember default coding it at one stage. So i just think their different hardware.

Contact LMB335IS at e90post he would know for sure.

You can try E92 chassis (if different), $2TC, *KG13 (335is coupe) in place of your vehicle code and an actual production month/year of 335is in place of yours of not in the range (#mmyy). Remove any SA codes that indicate AT, if there are any. I have to set chassis first by itself, then OK, then go back in and do the rest. Default code after VO is set.

It will obviously be Imperial units if it works. No idea if that will mess with tamper if metric default region, but I think everything is SI internally by default and just converted for display on non-metric cars. Maybe try pre-LCI Euro 335i with DCT if metric (*WB71 LHD/*WB72 RHD). No idea if their gear indicators are the same as 335is though.

I have used #0712 and the codes you provided, removed $205 (automatic transmission). Default coded KOMBI, I see some changes, transmission is set to SSG, but when sending display message 1D2 it displays gears as before, so no change.

I guess its either different CAN BUS message or KOMBI software?

CAN message would contain the data to display, probably not any format properties. If the format hasn't changed, I'd assume it's either firmware or the display version itself.

I'll look my ZB up when I have time later.

Looks like my Kombi ZB is 9242384 and there's an 8 year old newer 9283857 lol These are only used on 335is, your ZB is on a ton of cars. Seems there are multiple HW variants overall, more than I thought.

Interesting, it seems that there are at least 4 different KOMBI modules in WinKFP:
BKOML2 - ?
DKOML2 - DCT? KOMBI - your
HKOML2 - HIGH KOMBI - my
KOMBL2 - LOW KOMBI
So its different software and most probably hardware...

Yeah, if you coded with all 335is VO and it didn't work, it has to be a different HW version or program. I somehow doubt programming alone will do it and is probably HW specific, but stranger things have happened.

Kinda curious what the newer one changes on mine now lol

You should read the first post CORRECTLY! My answer was 100% accurate.
Yes, Alpina adds numbers. The OP specifically referenced how to get a coding index 9 non M DCT display on his KOMBI in a steptronic car (as pictured), nothing really to do with just getting numbers.
