Hello all, after an unfortunate accident my car and engine block were damaged, I am presently in the process of rebuilding both. I have since secured a brand-new block which is now at CSS waiting on the CORRECT pistons to be delivered to them. Together with the CSS work, the build will feature CP pistons and Rods, ARP head studs, upgraded cams and springs (not acquired yet), S55 oil pan and oil pumps. S55 dual HPFPs (which I may upgrade now), S63 injectors, EOS intake manifold and a set of Big Boost upgraded S55 twins! it will essentially be a cross between the N and S55 engines. I have not purchased any bearing sets yet because I cannot decide which to get as I do not have any experience with upgraded bearings, so I need your input, can anyone help?

Unfortunately I dont have any advice besides King bearings is what everyone has told me. But were kinda going through the same thing. I was planning on a N55 build but just happened to come up on a S55 long block... Im debating on which motor to use but really hoping the S55 is gonna be possible within reason. Ill follow this for sure and share any advice I can...

The thread for my project...

Also in the process of a forged build. I’m using ACL coated and extra oil clearance main and rod bearings, ARP2000 head studs. My builder is gonna order the head gasket. MLS from cometic.

Don’t know much about their brand. I only have orderd parts from their website. Ask your builder or call around some performance shops and ask what they run in their performance builds. My machinist recommended ACL, so that what I’m running.

What cams are you looking at? Really only saw schrick, and CAT. Schrick gives more lift, CAT gives more duration, but the lift is close to the schricks.

Their specifications look close enough so I am considering the CATs just because of the lower price point.

Hi,

For my N55 EWG We changed mine for oem with a wbc coating I think it's the most suitable to respect the clearence of the crankshaft.

I think I’ll be going this way as well, I’m liking the 5150 Autosport bearings for this.

Hi, has anyone tried using "O" ring cord to seal the block and the bed plate? just a thought I'm playing around with.

Old school Porsche builders will lay a single strand of sewing string in the sealant all the way around the sealing area. They swear by this.

Both ideas sound interesting.

As there is a groove you can actually calculate the needed o-ring size really easy based on the given dimensions.

The sewing string tricks sounds really interesting also.

I cant find the exact video I remember which was HD and went into detail about using the string, but I did find this motorcycle video which is doing the exact thing. Single strand of sewing string IN the silicone sealant.

Patiently awaiting the arrival of the freshly upgraded block from CSS along with other parts I've ordered, will post pics when it gets here.
Apparently, there was a shipping address error, managed to track down my block and get it redirected! so the clock starts again!
