Someone posted this video:

And in the description it says it was running this standalone: https://www.scs-delta.co.uk/product-page/bmw-n54-di-engine-management-kit

This complete engine management system allows for full standalone running of the BMW N54 engine with advanced piezo direct injection, dual Vanos and twin turbos.
The package comprises a Delta 880 ECU, Delta Piezo Injector Driver Module a modified BMW engine wiring loom (as an exchange) and our USB-CAN ECU Interface. The ECU is loaded with a start up map for the standard N54 engine, but our SXTune software allows for easy alterations to suit modified engines. With this Engine management package you can fit the powerful BMW N54 Engine to any car in which it will fit!
A mechanical dipstick conversion is required for oil level.
The wiring loom is provided on an exchange basis only, a useable N54 engine loom must be provided. Lead time on this product is typically 3-4 weeks. For Drive by Wire throttle installations we advise the use of an E46 BMW electronic throttle pedal.

Wow, looks like a pretty good price too. Has anyone heard of this company before? Kind of surprised this popped out of the blue.

I think the main question is: Will it run all the factory electronics, or is this a swap/race type solution primarily?

Its race designed from what I've been told, I know someone with this but the car is still in pieces so nothing is happening with it for a while... It doesnt control much more than the basics of the engine... Doesnt really like drive by wire, let alone any of the other electronics including fueling. There are two other cars I know of that use this one is a datsun and the others a truck.

But this is what I've been told, I'm sure SCS could tell you for sure

I've been working with the SCS Delta800 with the Piezo IDM. And do like it. Have only used it in a race application, but it's sold as a PnP-kit for street application.

It does communicate with the OEM, according to specs.

Fuel control works like a charm!

I have found no issue whatsoever with the Drive-By-Wire control.

Something that's really note-worthy is the PID control algorithms... error dependent P and I terms and much more intricate features.

The only things that won't directly work with the Delta 800 are: dip-stick (convert to mechanical) and waterpump (runs at max output all the time)

The waterpump originally works on the Lin-BUS, but does have PWM capability, meaning a re-wire could result in it being controlled by the ECU.

What are you looking at to control?
Standard stuff, such as: boost, e-throttle, closed loop fuel, ignition, dual Vanos, ...
all present and functioning nicely.

Another note i would like to add is that this ECU doesn't control PI so for aux fuel you'll need to run a Piggy. Not a big deal though since your can VTT Double barrel for stock motor power levels

I'm working in a different solution for the fueling problem, which would basically remove the need for any split injection type requirement.

Don't want to divulge too much at this stage as it's in the early concept/development phase.

Did any of this come to fruition?
