ARP headstuds

I recently had my head built by headgames while I was away on a travel nursing assignment. I am back from my assignment and just came to realize that arp headstuds are back ordered until possibly the end of the year. Is this absolutely necessary to have for a setup that may make about 550-650whp or can I get away with stock headstuds?

Yes, I called them about a week ago and they told me that arp headstuds are not in stock and may be available towards the end of the year.

Your not contacting the right vendors. Try contacting shops in California that have a closer proximity to arp, stock headbolts are fine as long as the threads In your block are in good shape. Would be smarter to just wait for headstuds though

I contacted ARP a while ago and they said they make studs to VACs custom spec.

I ordered a set from VAC a few weeks ago and they told me they would be available by late October.

Careful I had bought arp head studs from another company. They were listed for n54. The 2 front m9 studs are not long enough. I couldn't catch threads with the nuts. And when I tried to torque them the front driverside bolt just spun. Had to pull my head and send it to machine shop to get it grinded off the size of the washer in the 2 front spots. After speaking with arp they told me only vac has the right studs for n54 as they buy special sizes from arp and put their own kits together. Once head is back I'm going to oem bolts in the 2 front spots. My engine should be in the car already. This put me back 3 weeks as my local machine shop is super busy

Order them at VAC so that you get the next Batch.

I just received an ETA update that batch delivery is postponed to Mid/Late November.

Factory head studs are just not good enough and stretch at around 600hp as I found out the hard way on my built motor.
I heard you loud and clear on this. I just freshly built this motor and don't want anything to give me trouble. I got my head back before anything was done to it and ran a helicoil into the block so I can use the last arp stud. Thanks

Dang I was told mid November

That is what I was told as well. I just got to laugh at my situation as those headstuds are the only thing I need to complete my build and have my car running again.

I know they are needed but what a joke, 749 euro for bolts and even arp's prices are a joke but since no one makes them I
had to buy them myself.

When I go to a bolt shop and buy the same high tensile bolt for around 1 or 2 bucks.

At the end of the day its a bolt with two threads on it and a nut and washer.
